Will the Warriors' new roster changes make them unstoppable this season?

The wait will be over in a few days for the hoops community, as the regular season finally returns with twists and turns after a long summer break. But before that, the teams will gear up for some preseason action like every year. During the offseason, the Golden State Warriors was the franchise that attracted the major limelight. With their core team in splits, and besides showcasing their unique style of play with Stephen Curry leading the tribe, there will be new talents to look forward to. Let’s take a look at what their preseason schedule would look like.

The Warriors will open their pre-season journey against the LA Clippers. On October 5, 7 PM ET, Saturday, the two teams will face at the SimpliFi Arena Stan Sheriff Center in Hawaii. This LA side will be a lot different from what it appeared a couple of months ago. They will be sporting their brand-new designed jerseys while taking the court without Paul George. With the small forward in their team, the Clips managed to win 3-1 the previous season meeting against the Warriors. Overall, in the head-to-head record, GSW are leading 138 to 98 wins of the Clippers in the regular season and they’ll need more of the same from last season to close the gap.

Next up are the neighborhood rivals, the Sacramento Kings. The two sides will face each other on US soil with their duel commencing at the Golden 1 Center on Oct 9 at 10:30 PM ET. This will be the first of the two games. They’ll collide in the preseason with the rematch at the Chase Center on Oct 11, Friday at 10 PM ET. The fixture holds its own value in San Francisco with bragging rights on the line, but hopefully, Draymond Green won’t make too much out of it. The teams were neck-to-neck in their last four regular season meet-up with both tied at 2 wins a piece. Though, historically, the Warriors have an edge with a 217-195 record over the Kings.

It’s been almost 44 years since the Warriors and the Pistons have faced each other in preseason! But thanks to the pre-season schedules, the Detroit side will finally make a trip to the Chase Center on Oct 13. The game has a tip-off time of 8:30 PM ET and both sets of fans expect more of the same to continue between the two! Last season when the two were up against each other, GSW won both the games.

The Motor City side is coming off the worst NBA season of all-time and as things look, another tough season might be on its way. But, before that, the preseason games can provide a breath of fresh air to the Detroit faithful, hopefully. Historically, though, the Pistons aren’t too far behind with 148 regular season wins to their name against the Dubs, who’ve won 161 times.

That’s not all. The Warriors have announced a special promotional campaign for the preseason games. Fans can have bobbleheads featuring Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, and Trayce Jackson-Davis. Curry’s bobblehead will be in his Team USA attire, inspired by his pivotal performances in the Olympics. The first 10,000 fans in attendance for the Kings game will receive the bobbleheads. There will also be 1500 gold-painted ones that will be included in the giveaway, distributed randomly. There will also be a giveaway for the Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis bobbleheads during the Pistons game. And if you don’t get one during these games, do not fret because the Warriors will continue this promotional campaign in the regular season as well. The dates are yet to be revealed for that, so keeping your eyes and ears open can do a world of good.

And finally, the one we were waiting for, the Lakers vs the Warriors. This time it will be double the fun with two consecutive matches against the Gold and Purple, with the first at the T-Mobile Arena on October 15 at 10 PM ET and the second at the Chase Center on October 18, beginning at 10:30 PM ET. The NBA enthusiasts eagerly wait for LeBron versus Curry.

What’s your perspective on:

Will the Warriors' new roster changes make them unstoppable this season?

Have an interesting take?

For more than a decade, the two greats have remained the face of the league. While LeBron James excelled in his all-rounder abilities, Steph Curry mastered his shooting skills. Their on-court rivalry peaked when ‘the Chosen One’ was in the Eastern Conference team. With the Cavaliers, King James faced Curry’s Warriors in four consecutive NBA finals (2015-2018) and won only once in 2016.

Last season, the Warriors snatched three regular season games out of four, giving the Lakers a tough time. Overall, the LA side has a monstrous H2H lead over the Warriors with a 262-176 record in the regular season.

With the dust settling in the offseason, it wasn’t only the Warriors who were dealt with a major blow by a star loss; the Clippers are also in the same boat. So the pre-season games would be an opportunity for both to put down a marker before moving to the championship race.

Golden State Warriors and LA Clippers’ Big 3 are down to duos!

The Dubs and the Clippers are facing a new reality in the wake of the summer exits of Klay Thompson and Paul George, respectively. Incidentally, PG was the Bay Area team’s target to replace the Splash Brother, but the Sixers made a better appeal both financially and situationally. The Warriors chased Lauri Markkanen throughout the summer only to be bummed out by the Jazz following his contract renewal. So yeah, at the moment, being a member of the Dubs nation is painfully difficult.

The scenario is also similar in the LA franchise. While the Clippers failed to win big with Paul George in the past 5 years, his name provided a measure of respect facing the tough Western battles. His trident with Kawhi Leonard and James Harden will be remembered as a bust but, losing a player of his caliber only hurts a franchise.

The pre-season games will provide an outlook on how things might look like for the teams, at least in the first quarter of the regular season. So, with the bright lights and cameras at the ready, it’s all about striking your best pose before the actual show begins.
