Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is nothing short of an NBA legend. With four championships under his belt, Kerr has ushered in a historic era for the Dubs, proving time and again that he knows exactly how to lead his team. This often means making bold, sometimes controversial decisions that could rattle less experienced players. Yet, nothing has deterred Kerr from being his audacious self, not even the challenges faced by shooting guard Moses Moody, who has had a rocky journey under his watch. General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. is optimistic about the 22-year-old Moody considering a contract extension with the Warriors by October 31. However, Moody’s future with the team hangs in the balance.

His journey has seen a rollercoaster of playing time, as he has experienced both spells in and out of the rotation, affecting his overall stats. Last season, he started just nine games, highlighting the inconsistency plaguing his career. Kerr has made it clear that Moody has to sharpen his decision-making and quicken his jumper release. The stakes are high for the young guard as he navigates this pivotal moment in his career. Thus, to bring himself back into the main picture of the Golden State Warriors, Moody must step up his game. Moses Moody has played his first preseason game of the 2024/25 season. He was one of the top scorers of the day, securing 15 points for the 13 minutes he was on the court against the LA Clippers.

Meanwhile, the guard’s workout regime over the summer break might startle his fans. Is Moody choosing boxing as a side quest? Or is it a way of enhancing his fitness to bring him back under Steve Kerr’s radar? So, what’s a typical workout day for Moses Moody? The Dubs’ star shared his routine in an interview. “This summer I was working at Proactive with my man Dash on both sides. I would wake up, go to the gym, do my lifting, then do my treatment. Then I would probably get on the court. I was doing some boxing training.” The 22-year-old also added pickleball and golf to his routine, he shared. But what could be the possible reason behind boxing training?

Moody said that he always liked boxing and credited a fighter at the gym for showing some moves. “So he would just put the gloves on and show me some stuff, because I’ve done this since I was a kid, just playing around.” However, his 2023/24 career stats still leave room for improvement. Starting only 9 games for the Golden State Warriors, he averaged 8.1 PPG—not exactly remarkable. But can it change? Absolutely. After three seasons in the NBA, the shooting guard has gained valuable lessons that could be the key to unlocking his potential, and maybe, just maybe, magic will follow.

“A lot” – Moses Moody talks about what playing in the NBA has taught him

Steve Kerr’s ‘inconsistent’ wingman, Moses Moody was a part of the 2022 championship-winning Golden State Warriors. He was still a newbie in the game and was learning the ins and outs of the league. Over time, not only has his game evolved, but so has his maturity. Therefore, when asked about the lessons the NBA world has taught him, Moody gave an honest answer. First, he addressed the question as a “Good question,” and proceeded to say: “A lot.”

It would’ve been surprising if the Dubs’ star told none. Because, as exciting as the NBA might seem, there is immense pressure that the hoopers face to cope with the competition. However, “observation” is one of the keys to surviving in the tough terrains. “Physical capabilities, you kind of got what you got when you get to this point. You can get stronger, you can get faster, but for the most part, what you’re going into the season with is what got to work with,” Moody said.

The GSW guard continued: “But just being able to know footwork, where I want to get my foot past your foot, or on defense, I need to get to his body right here. And then just picking up on cadences and picking up on things like that. That’s how you make a bug jump, rather than just thinking. I’m going to do a whole bunch of drills and get better that way.” Well, the grind is real, and keeping up with rivals and peers must be a strenuous task.

Fans surely want to see more of Moses Moody for the Golden State Warriors. However, the decision depends on Steve Kerr and the front office. Of course, improvement and consistency would be the factors on which the shooting guard will be judged. But there might be hopes that we’d see more of the 22-year-old on the court than the previous season.
