The Golden State Warriors forward Klay Thompson and the team’s front office have not struck a deal yet, and the replacement rumors are gaining relevance. Since the Golden dynasty of the Dubs, including Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Thompson, might break soon, Paul George is expected to compensate for the 5x NBA All-Star. There were rumors that the Warrior’s front office is interested in acquiring the Clippers forward. However, the recent interaction of the Warriors executive Mike Dunleavy Jr. with the press has marked its probable confirmation.

While speaking to NBC Sports on Thompson’s future and Paul George’s angle, Dunleavy said, “I think it’s possible because we have the assets to do so. …we’re capable of a big move if that’s on the table or available.” It seems that the Warriors‘ general manager is open to getting George if he is willing to leave the Clippers. For now, George has a $48.7 million player option on the table and is seeking a $221 million four-year contract from the Dubs front office. He was expected to record his response by Saturday if he’s entering free agency or not. That’s why Dunleavy thinks the George trade is quite dubious.

“The hardest part of that is not that many guys that are available you feel are worthy of giving up all that. We’ll see. This stuff evolves, it changes so quickly, “ Dunleavy Jr. expressed his concerns on the possibility of the Paul George acquisition. Though it is right, the Clippers are trying to avoid the luxury tax by not offering George his dream deal. However, things turned around, as the 34-year-old might also go for a short-term deal with a greater salary to remain below the cap.

Can Paul George compensate for Klay Thompson if he goes in with the Warriors?

Klay Thompson’s speculated departure from the Warriors itself will be a big blow to the trio of Curry, Green, and Klay. The teammates might not adapt that quickly, moving on from an 11-year-long bond. Yet the Dubs GM stated that the team needed to take the required steps. “You’ve gotta do what’s best for the franchise one way or the other. …I understand the dynamics. Doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy, “ Dunleavy Jr. said on the impact of Thompson leaving the team.

However, the Dubs executive is so candid about Thompson cause Paul George just fits well with what his team requires. The 9x NBA All-Star can be the missing piece to the sharp-shooting from the Dubs at the perimeter. George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists this season. On the other hand, Thompson could only accumulate 17.9 points this season. In addition to that, he was benched for the first time since his rookie season at the Warriors.

Overall, the situation is quite complex as Paul George has made no confirmation regarding his demand with the Clippers office. Moreover, the Warriors will need to trade and sign a deal to acquire him. Since the veteran players might not go, the possibility of promising young ones going is a must. If that happens, the Dubs will sacrifice their future to get ahold of their present ambitions. Can they achieve such a feat? Let us know in the comments.
