The Golden State Warriors are watching a piece of their dynasty look away. Klay Thompson, who has been with the franchise for over a decade is seeking a new home as a free agent. This came after weeks of anticipation on whether the Warriors will open talks with the Splash Brother. As it turned out, they refused and there was no movement at all. Now as a free agent, Thompson holds his own destiny with the freedom of traveling anywhere across the league.
But what if the Warriors wanted him back? The franchise could hope that Klay Thompson compromises on his exorbitant expectations and signs a smaller contract. According to Evan Cohen, the odds of that happening are impossible. In his opinion, the only way the Warriors could reunite with the 34-year-old is by showing placing him on the same block as his ‘brother’ Draymond Green.
“I can tell you 25. It’s the same number as Draymond. That has to be eating at him right? He is the guy that punched Jordan Poole in the face” Cohen told Chris Canty when asked how much it would take to keep Thompson. But neither he nor Canty were convinced the Warriors could offer him that sum. “Because he is not a starter for them,” Cohen further explained.

“If you don’t pay him somewhere in the ballpark of what Draymond Green is already getting in a contract extension, then I can understand why Klay Thompson wants to get the hell out of there.” – @ChrisCanty99 https://t.co/nXhaM0O6jc

The Super Bowl champion sympathized with Thompson. Canty didn’t think the Warriors veteran was after the money. But he does believe that contracts are a team’s way of showing respect. So if the Warriors aren’t prepared to offer him as much as Green after he played an integral part in their rise as a dynasty, “then I can understand why Klay Thompson wants to get the hell out of there”, the former New York Giants lineman said.
According to the most recent update, the Golden State Warriors aren’t leaving their legend without help. There is a chance the Warriors assist the sharpshooter in getting an expensive deal by conducting a sign-and-trade and forcing teams to match his salary. In such a case, the Bay will also be compensated with some assets that they could use for more business during free agency.
Klay Thompson has many teams fighting for him

Can Draymond Green and Klay Thompson bring the Warriors back to their former glory?
Have an interesting take?
There is a growing possibility that Klay Thompson will sign with a new team very soon. It could be as soon as today or in the coming days. His primary interest seems to be in the West with teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Clippers all behind him. The only trouble for these franchises is their inability to pay him.
The Mavericks, who are regarded to be the most aggressive can only pay the seasoned guard a mid-level exception salary which is no more than $13 million per season. While it is a sacrifice, Klay Thompson gets the benefit of competing for an immediate championship. That’s a luxury that seems unlikely for the Warriors, who have yet to do any significant business so far.
It would pair him up with a budding tandem of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving while also allowing him access to better looks. After playing 77 games last season, the health concerns have also slowly vanished, fueling the confidence teams have in trading for Klay. His shooting has dipped, but as they say ‘shooters keep shooting’. Maybe that’s the fix to his slump.
