Can Steve Kerr lead the Warriors to another championship, or are their glory days behind them?

Are the Golden State Warriors ready? The recent off-season saw several changes taking place within the championship-contending franchise. From letting go of their 13-year-long star Klay Thompson to bringing in veterans like Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson, several questions exist about where the franchise and its Bay Area dynasty stand. Recent weeks have also seen doubts about the team’s financial flexibility crop up. All these questions will be answered by Steve Kerr and Co. during the upcoming media day. Therefore, without any further ado, let us find out more about the highly anticipated press conference.

As of now, details have not been revealed on how fans can view the live press conference from the comfort of their home. However, like in previous years, the Warriors could livestream the media day on their official YouTube channel and their Facebook page. Media Day is scheduled to take place just a day before the Warriors roster heads off to Hawaii for their training camp. Returning to the island of Oahu for the first time in 17 years, Steve Kerr reportedly believes that the 4-day getaway is needed for healthy bonding. The pre-season will begin for the franchise on October 5th.

What storylines should be expected for NBA Media Day with Steve Kerr?

Without a doubt, the biggest elephant in the room will be the absence of Klay Thompson. After having been Stephen Curry’s ‘Splash Brother’ for more than a decade, the 34-year-old shooting guard left the franchise and joined the Dallas Mavericks. Therefore, one can expect questions regarding the impact of his absence, and how the franchise hopes to work through it going forward. A major reason behind his exit was reportedly attributed to the fact that he wasn’t given his desired extension deal.

A somewhat unpleasant ‘déjà vu’ is now occurring with Jonathan Kuminga, who is reportedly seeking a five-year $224 million contract extension, just like the ones handed to the other players from his draft class. The Athletic reporter Anthony Slater revealed that the Warriors are not “currently prepared” to fulfill the lofty demand. This issue will also likely be touched upon.

Significant changes have been made just before the training camp. Yesterday, the Warriors released a statement, announcing that they have waived Daeqwon Plowden, who had earlier signed a two-way deal. According to sources, the decision has been made in light of the franchise’s intention to add Quinten Post to a two-way contract to fulfill the need for a stretch center. Given that a final decision will not be made until after training camp, the current status of both players could be touched upon during the Q&A session.
