Even at Lebron James‘s current age, he is regarded as one of the best players in the world. James has an amazing IQ and great passing skills. The way he finds the open man through traffic is incredible. He is also in the 40k points club, a mark that only a handful of elites have reached, and he was the youngest to reach this mark.
Coming to Kevin Durant, he does have the size to be a much better defender than LeBron James, no one can deny that. Durant is a better shooter and perhaps a better scorer than LeBron James. He’s also a better shot-blocker because he is 7 feet tall whereas James is 6′8″. Both players are very clutch because it is rare to see these players miss when the game is on the line. This debate about who is the best has been going on for a long time. Let’s see what Paul Pierce has to say about this.
“My life is on the line and I need this player to come up pretty spectacular. I got to go with LeBron on that one, I have seen it firsthand. I have seen some games that I will never forget, that I probably still have nightmares about,” Pierce said. “I love KD and I know what he can do on the scoring side of the ball. When I go back and I look at game 6 in Boston, the game of LeBron’s life. He delivered.” Clearly, Paul Pierce is talking about LeBron James’ performance against the Celtics in game 6 of the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals. He scored 45 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, and shot 73.1% from the field. It was a jaw-dropping performance from the king and will go down as the game that made him LeBron James.

“When I go back and look at that game in 2007, I believe, vs Detroit. When he [LeBron James] was in Cleveland, he scored 48 points with 25 points in a row. When they really needed it, he did it. I can’t really think of a game where I can say KD. Because I always look back to game 6 and game 7. They were up 3 to 1 on Golden State when he was in OKC. A chance to go to the finals and KD needed that game to get them back to the finals in that game and that’s where the dynasty started or kept going for Golden State. So, if I need just that one game, I gotta go with LeBron.” Pierce added. Pierce is talking about that game where the Oklahoma City Thunder lost the 3-1 lead to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals back in 2016. Kevin Durant failed to get his team to the finals, but LeBron James was able to deliver for his team when they needed him. Paul Pierce’s argument actually makes sense if you think about it, doesn’t it?
Lebron James and Kevin Durant in the Olympics
LeBron James and Kevin Durant have also had notable performances in the Olympics. Team USA had their first Olympic game against Serbia, and they came out victorious with a dominant 110-84 win. Many people had predicted the game to be close, but they were far from right. This game was surely a confidence boost for them after their near loss to South Sudan in the Olympic matches. The reason for their dominating win? Two names: LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
LeBron James had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists in the game. On the other hand, Kevin Durant had 23 points on 8 out of 9 shooting. He did not miss a single shot out of 5 that he shot from beyond the arc. Kevin Durant was on a mission in that game and it’s safe to say that he completed it successfully.
