This week has been a week of many firsts for Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic. The Mavs made history in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics by bouncing back from a 3-0 series deficit, a feat never before achieved in the league. And to make the week more special, Luka got to celebrate his first Father’s Day ever today. After the intensity of the NBA Finals, Luka Doncic, at just 24 years old, reflects on fatherhood with profound honesty and joy.
The 24-year-old player and his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, welcomed their daughter, Gabriela, in December last year. When asked about his feelings on this very special occasion, the player replied, “Just happy to be a father, it’s been the best thing in my life.” In December, Luka had described his daughter’s birth as the “best day of his life.“

Ever since then, Luka has taken every opportunity to talk about how welcoming his daughter into the world has changed his life. Some time ago, he had expressed his gratitude in a press conference, “I’m much more happy now. There are some nights I don’t sleep that much but Ana is doing most of the job. This is really a life-changing thing for the better, and there’s nothing happier than this, and because of that, I’m the happiest man in the world.”
While Luka doesn’t plan to push his daughter into any particular sport, he is optimistic that she will grow to love athletics. In an interview with Esquire in April 2024, he said, “She can learn whatever she decides. I hope she likes sports. A lot of sports.” He particularly hopes that she learns to play tennis, which he considers a “tough sport.”
Safe to say, Luka has had a busy week. With Game 5 on Monday, the stakes are high.
Dallas Mavericks’ make history with Game 4 win against Boston Celtics
The Mavs’ sensational comeback left everyone shocked. They practically made history. Dallas swept Boston with a 122-84 victory and secured their place in the series…at least for a little while. Luka, who had been under fire for his defensive weaknesses in the series, pulled up his socks this time around.
Doncic contributed a total of 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Kyrie Irving, whose performance had also been underwhelming so far in the series, scored a total of 21 points. Not only did they become the first team to ever come back from a 3-0 deficit, the winning margin of 38 points was the third-largest in NBA Finals history.
Despite his recent serious physical injury, Doncic said he felt “amazing” after the game. He said, “We got to play the same way [in Boston]. Their fans are going to be loud, so we have to stay focused and do the same things we did today.”
