With four NBA Championships, Stephen Curry’s legacy with the Golden State Warriors will go down in history as one of the greatest teams the league has ever seen. Steve Kerr, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Curry, and, yes, Kevin Durant in the middle, entertained fans for a long time. They even revolutionized the game with the barrage of three-pointers, forcing teams to up their perimeter game. However, all wonderful things come to an end.
Similar to Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, Tom Brady’s New England Patriots, or even the 3-peat Los Angeles Lakers, they all had their glory days. If the teams fail to rebuild, the end will inevitably come sooner or later. In the latest episode of ‘Inside the NBA’, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley engaged in a deep discussion, regarding what the Warriors must do to win a championship. Safe to say, a rebuilding process never comes easy.
Smith became a beacon of positivity, motivating the team to unite and secure Curry’s 5th Championship. But Barkley felt it was the end of the sunset for the Golden State Warriors. Smith mentioned, “This is the year. Steph Curry is gonna be part of a real rebuild, or they are going to try to get one more guy in to help him and win a championship.” Barkley disagreed with this statement explaining the Warriors have a lot to do for it to happen smoothly.

Charles asks a valid question, “Like what guy? Anthony Davis? Giannis? Even if you get a superstar, they have to give up on a lot.” Who will fit into the bill? Like literally, the bill!
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Golden State Warriors are far from a match made in heaven!
Be aware that a cap space of -$58,747,796 constrains the GSW franchise in making moves to players. They have multiple players on heavy-pay checks like Curry, who earns $55,761,216. In the meantime, Wiggins and Green earn close to a combined $53 million. At least 7 players earn contracts between $12 to $5 million. As Barkley said, if you look at Giannis Antetokounmpo’s contract, he earns around $54,126,380. While Anthony Davis gets a healthy $54,126,380.

They have to probably trade Draymond Green, the franchise’s leader, who is far more worth than the stats he put. By offering three players and some draft picks, they may be able to bring in a superstar. But it questions the balance of the team. Steph ain’t getting younger and they would need to sync in from the get-go.
Curry should relish the final chapter of his career and celebrate his glory days, according to Barkley. Even Shaq pointed out dynasties come to an end, and there’s nothing you can do about it. It could become a fairytale story if Stephen Curry lobs to Giannis Antetokounmpo to get his 5th NBA title. It’s even a hard deal to muster in NBA 2k25. But never say never. Strange things have happened in this league!
