Is Giannis Antetokounmpo's latest TikTok a cry for help or just harmless fun? Bucks fans, weigh in!

Does Giannis Antetokounmpo have a good sense of humor? His antics through his ongoing 13-year NBA run have certainly proven that. From pranking a Bucks rookie with a car filled with popcorn to the ‘constipation’ joke he made after interrupting Rashad McCants’ presser, the Greek Freak has often taken a break from his dominant side, showing his light-hearted personality from time to time. This off-season has prompted him to experiment, causing him to put out a video that many aren’t sure what to think about.

Uploaded through his official TikTok Account, the clip featured G-Eazy’s Lady Killers II playing in the background. However, for viewers, that might have been the only thing that made sense. Nothing else could explain the animated baby turning his head around constantly and then covering his eyes, while Giannis Antetokounmpo, having animated his face on a figure with a green tracksuit, kept approaching the baby when he wasn’t looking!

The bizarre outfit and concept might indicate that Giannis’ clip is a reference to Squid Game. The first episode featured Green Light, Red Light, which became popular amongst netizens and was subject to a bunch of memes and reels. While the Buck is quite late to the trend, any video uploaded by him would be enough to gain the viral attention of his fans. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to have been able to place the ‘Squid Game’ connection and instead chose to focus on the ‘absurdity’ of the video.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s unusual upload causes fanbase to question everything

It didn’t take long for social media users to react. One of them didn’t choose to beat around the bush, and outright asked, “Is he high?” Well, there are no reports to indicate that the 2x NBA MVP has used any sort of substance. However, he enjoys getting a laugh out from other people, even if his ways can be a bit different. It was also seen in 2018 when Giannis wanted to prank then-Bucks rookie Sterling Brown.

Revealing that “This is what you get when you don’t do your rookie duties”, Giannis had Brown encounter a popcorn-filled Mercedes SUV! The prank has become somewhat of an NBA tradition now, as Dion Waiters, Kent Bazemore, Rudy Gobert, etc have all fallen victim to it.

Have an interesting take?

One of them highlighted Giannis Antetokounmpo’s clip, indicating that fans weren’t the only ones who were too bored waiting for the next regular season. “This is how I know the off-season been going on too long,” the individual wrote.

While the off-season can be a 3-4 month wait, fans had the 2024 Paris Olympics this time. Representing Greece, which had qualified for the Olympics after failing to do so in 2012, 2016, and 2020, Giannis emerged as the lead scorer, averaging 25.8 points. This average made him not only a better performer than all the other members of Team USA, but it also placed him as the highest average scorer out of all his other rivals.

Another social media user believed “I think the fumes got to him” This was a clever reference to some of the issues that Giannis’ city, Milwaukee, has been facing in regards to air quality. With Wisconsin being very close to Canada, the ‘Cream City’ often feels the effects of any wildfire incidents that happen on the other side of the border. According to a report by the University of Wisconsin, the AQI reached the ‘very unhealthy’ level last summer, and another wildfire incident affected citizens around May of this year.

One fan did not care what Giannis was doing, nor did he choose to criticize how the player chose to express his goofiness. He simply stated, “I don’t care he’s still my goat.”

After all, who wouldn’t love a guy who has averaged 30.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists over the last two seasons? While the player is yet to repeat his actions of the 2020-21 season, which earned him the Championship trophy, he continues to be a dominating presence on the court.

Overall, the reactions were not overly critical of the Bucks star. However, if people were convinced about one thing, it was that Giannis Antetokounmpo needs to return to the NBA court as soon as possible!
