San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembenyama is known in the league for his graceful shooting style and towering 7’4″ height. When the Spurs selected him with the first pick through the 2023 NBA draft, he was expected to be the most prodigal prospect of the younger basketball generation. However, It seems that basketball is not the only space that Wemby conquers at this juncture.
The Memphis Grizzlies rookie GG Jackson shed light on how the Spurs’ giant is even better at trash talk during his appearance on FanDuel’s Run It Back show. While discussing a hilarious memory with Wembanyama, Jackson shared how the Spurs’ center once trash-talked him earlier this season. Since Jackson is 6’9″, when he tried to defend Wemby, apparently, the Spurs center surpassed him and trash-talked him from above.
“Why do they keep going up on you?” Wembanyama teased Jackson about his height while trying to defend. It was a funny incident for the Grizzlies’ rookie as he further mentioned how Wemby’s trash talks are just “light whispers,” in English.

Apart from sharing some heartfelt memories, the Grizzlies forward also made a bold claim regarding the French prospect as the “greatest basketball player to play this[basketball] game.” However, when the host asked why Jackson thinks so, the latter answered how Wemby could pull off any move he could imagine.
Some of the skills and shots that he mentioned included ball handling, sham guarding from the three-point line, and bass break transition from the volleyball line.

What are plans ahead for Victor Wembanyama and co?
The debut season for Wembanyama has been smooth sailing so far. Though his team, the San Antonio Spurs, could not make it to the playoffs, Wemby averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists during the regular season. The incredible performance from the Spurs star even earned him the Rookie Of The Year title this year. Further adding to his debut season, the Spurs player has also topped the entire NBA in combined steals and blocks[332].
However, as a team, the Spurs need a more developed potential to play alongside Victor Wembanyama. His team needs to figure out a solid point guard who can assist Wemby during the games. Though Tre Jones is an impressive player, the Spurs need something better. Another thing that the Spurs might need to work on in the future is ramping up Wemby’s minute threshold on the court. Whenever Wembanyama played 30-plus minutes in the regular season, he averaged an unbelievable five stocks per game.
