The Memphis Grizzlies (6-15) are struggling to find solid ground this season, and currently take the fourth position in the Southwest Division. The fact that 24-year-old Ja Morant hasn’t been around doesn’t help either. We haven’t seen any action from the point guard so far; he hasn’t even made played a single game this season yet, thanks to a 25-game suspension he received in the summer.
Ja was suspended for the use of unlicensed firearms. While on suspension, he has been showing up and supporting young players at high school basketball games. One such visit recently has resulted in an out-pour of love from the future stars of Munford High School.

Ja Morant was showered with affection and support from the students of the school. “Ja is my favorite player,” Jayden Lee, a junior from Munford High, said. “Seeing him in the stands and having him around as he makes his comeback means a lot to all of us,” he continued. The school athletes expressed their elation at having the NBA star spend time with them this season.

Apart from spending time with Ja, the students have also had the opportunity to learn from him. As he nears his return to the NBA, Ja will be cleared to return on the 19th, which means he will play against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Adam Silver, the Commissioner of the NBA, in a statement, said that before Ja can play again, he must complete a program with the league that specifically addresses the issues that caused him to repeat the “destructive” actions.

Ja had received an eight-game suspension back in March for being seen with a handgun in an Instagram Live video while at a Denver nightclub. He was sent to a counseling program as well. Later in May, a video of him showing off a gun went viral on social media, leading to the 25-game suspension.

Despite being suspended, Ja was allowed to travel with the team and take part in practice drills. Fortunately for Memphis, the former Rookie of the Year will soon be able to join them in the games and contribute much-needed assistance.
