Ben Simmons is 100% healthy, he has no restrictions heading into this season. He appears positive and confident in his interactions and his demeanor. However, the Brooklyn Nets? fans have yet to buy into his transformation, and their apprehension is also valid. They want more from him to regain their trust. Until then, Ben Simmons would have to endure their derision that would come his way.

In a recent Brooklyn Nets video, Ben Simmons seems to be guiding his teammates, which attracted some sharp comments from his fans. Yet, these are encouraging signs for the Nets to begin their season on a positive note.

Ben is a leader.

During his Philly days, Ben was on an equal footing with Joel Embiid, and they were the cornerstones of that team. Naturally, he could voice his opinions, and be his demanding best. But that was not the case with the Nets. He arrived in Brooklyn as a shell of himself, and the demons of his past haunted him. A real turnaround for him would be to take the bull by the horns, and on being his assertive best. He is a starter, and a leader of this team. Ben Simmons should build on his great start to the new season, and should not let external voices affect him. He had a great preseason game against the Lakers for the limited minutes that he was on the floor. Though the Nets lost that game, there were many encouraging signs for this Eastern conference team.

Ben need not teach anyone anything at this moment. He should use this year to regain his respect. He is a 3 time all-star who made it to the all defensive team twice. But those are only the vague memories for NBA fans. What one would remember is his infamy in the postseason that cost Philadelphia their title shot, and Ben sitting out to get out of there. As for the Brooklyn Nets, they are a long way from their “streets wont forget” D’Lo days, and just like Ben Simmons, it is going to be a lengthy process.
