Stephen A. Smith getting roasted by Kevin Hart—Is this the best TV moment of the year?

The roaster himself got roasted, and Stephen A. Smith is the new victim of this adage. The American sports media TV personality recently welcomed actor cum comedian Kevin Hart on First Take. Just to remind you, Kevin did a Netflix special, ‘The Roast of Tom Brady’, that took the internet by storm back in May! It did get some criticism, but it turned out to be a banger and the comedian saw another opportunity in the ESPN vet when he got on his show. Hart did not hesitate to give SAS a taste of ‘the roast’ early morning.

As hosts Molly Qerim and Stephen A. Smith of First Take welcomed KH, it seemed like Kevin Hart was there to meddle with Smith. First of all, he did not greet the ESPN host. Just seconds later, Stephen A. tried to take a jibe at Dwayne Johnson’s pal, stating, “Why are you wearing shades in the morning?” The comic did not step back! Rather, he gave SAS a comeback with a pinch of the Brady roast as he replied, “Why don’t you get off my a– man? … I don’t ask you about your mustache or your hairline in the morning!”

However, this exchange was not limited to only one joke. The comic wanted to replicate the success of the Tom Brady roast, this time with Stephen A. Smith! “The Tom Brady roast, the success it was. Boy, oh boy, would Stephen A. Smith be the perfect somebody. Wait till you hear what I have to say about Stephen A. Smith,” Hart expressed his heartfelt desire on public TV.

The viral comedian seemed to have pushed the hoops analyst for it, as he added, “It’s hard to get me to come back and host another event like that, but for you Stephen, I would.”

No matter how much people loved the roast, it was still brutal for Tom Brady, as it had personal jokes sprinkled around, obviously, in good spirits. So, it’s not a real surprise that Stephen A. was not interested in pursuing Kevin Hart’s unexpected offer.

Tom Brady ‘regretted’ doing the roast show with Kevin Hart for only ONE reason

Tom Brady’s roast went public on Netflix on May 5, 2024, garnering 2 million views in a single day! However, just after a week of the show, the NFL legend regretted doing it. “I loved it when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that affected my kids… I wouldn’t do that again because of the way that affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world,” Brady confessed on The Pivot podcast.

The personal comebacks that the Patriots legend mentioned were about his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bundchen and his past relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan. Notably, Moynahan was pregnant with Brady’s son when they split. Even Kevin Hart acknowledged the sensitivity of the situation on Bleacher Report, “I think what he’s referring to is, ‘I could have tapered it a little differently, saying or having a conversation pre of, like, ‘Guys, let’s go and do this, but let’s not touch this or this.”

Nevertheless, the roast was a success as the purpose of a roast is to target the weaknesses, respectfully. So that might be the reason that Stephen A. Smith is a little scared of the ‘Kevin Hart mode’ during the roast. Would you want to see the duo for the roast?
