What do the Golden State Warriors need now? A change in the team’s strategy, some solid trades, and their lost confidence. Well, the 2024-25 season hasn’t been very kind to the team so far. And moving ahead, with the playoffs on their way, the road is going to be bumpy. Pretty bumpy. Therefore, Steve Kerr needs to place his bets and plans on players who can give more to the team. And clearly, their latest trade isn’t helping as much. Moreover, the team is eyeing a new trade to bolster their performance

Yes, I’m talking about Dennis Schroder. The 31-year-old German guard was an easy $13 million signing from the Brooklyn Nets. In return, the other side got an injured De’Anthony Melton and Reece Beekman. But the point is, where is the promising performance Schroder was putting up for the Nets? Just before joining Steve Kerr’s squad, he was averaging 18.4 ppg, 6.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds. But, over the last ten games that he played for the Bay Area, the same stats have gone down to 15.5 ppg, 2.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.

These numbers aren’t inviting at all. And it wouldn’t be shocking if the Warriors fans fume with frustration as they were hoping for a change of events with Schroder on their side. So, understanding the sentiments around, NBA reporter, Monte Poole told on Dubs Talk podcast: “The Schroder thing. It’s been what, nine games now? Ten. Yeah, it’s not looking good. There’s been one or two maybe good games. I mean, you think that it’s going to get better. But how long can the Warriors wait? That’s the question.”

Well, Kerr’s latest Warrior is still new to the Dubs system. So, there could be some considerations to be given. However, given the kind of player Schroder is, quick adaptability was surely expected. There’s time for him to improve and bring the support Stephen Curry desperately needs on the court. Until then, the Warriors are looking into another trade. Only this time, they have an eye for the Chicago Bulls superstar Nikola Vucevic.

But, Steve Kerr has to think things over, before taking a step ahead. Is, Vooch the one for the team?

Steve Kerr warned over his Nikola Vucevic vision

“You know, making a trade, you know, there’s a lot of talk about Nikola Vucevic, who would definitely help their offense. You know, he’ll get you 20 and 10 on a regular basis. He’ll stretch the floor. He’ll spread the floor and guys might get going,” Monte Poole told on Dubs Talk. There is no secret about what the 34YO center can bring to the court. He’s having one of the best seasons now with an average of 20.2 points per game. And yes, Nikola Vucevic could be the one Steve Kerr is looking for to rebuild his waning dynasty.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Nikola Vucevic the missing piece, or will his defensive flaws haunt the Warriors' playoff hopes?

Have an interesting take?

However, there is a major trouble the 59-year-old head coach needs to look into, before giving a thumbs up. Poole added: “He’s not going to help your defense. He’s not a good defender.” The Warriors need a defensive player. And desperately, might I add. Steve Kerr largely depends on Draymond Green to handle the backcourt. Even when DrayMagic is around, the Dubs aren’t able to manage their defenses because there ain’t many to back their veteran.

Simply put, the Warriors need a player who can go back and forth on the court. Besides, Steve Kerr needs to look into how he can get Dennis Schroder to play better in the upcoming games. A lot is going on in the Dubs and it’s not great. Therefore, a massive transformation is needed. Can Nikola Vucevic be the one? Can Schroder step up? Will the Dubs make it to the playoffs? We’ll hopefully find the answers soon.
