We all have been watching how team USA has been running the show in the Olympics, dominating every team they have faced so far. The mighty USA will be going up against Serbia next after mopping the floor with Brazil in the quarterfinals. The question is, will it be any different from the first game in the Olympics, where they won 122-87 against the three-time MVP Nikola Jokić and Serbia? Well, Draymond Green believes it won’t be any different.
“They don’t have the play around Joker to be able to compete with team USA. And by the way, I think they were even when Joker was on the court, it ain’t even going to be that way because now Team USA locked in.” Green spoke on Serbia VS USA in the semi-finals during the Draymond Green Show. Sure, during Serbia’s first match with the USA, maybe the presence of Jokic in the court might have made the teams evenly matched, but how much can one man do? The teammates that Jokic has in Serbia are not going to cut it against Team USA. In addition to that, with players like Lebron James and Kevin Durant in top form, the team USA looks untouchable!
“Stop the noise. Like, stop trying to compare people to the United States of America in basketball and stop trying to make it like these teams can compete with Team USA, they can’t.” Green added. Brian Windhorst had said earlier that maybe Canada could give Team USA a run for their money in the Olympics, but Draymond disagreed with him. “Windy, I totally disagree with you actually because the next best team is Germany,” Green said.

But in a more real sense, does Team USA have any kind of competition in this Olympics, not just Canada or Germany, for that matter? During their run in the Olympics so far, no team has even come close to beating team USA, except for South Sudan in the exhibition matches.
Maybe Team USA looked beatable during the exhibition matches and the earlier games in the Olympics, but now that the players are comfortable with their new squad and setting, is there any question of who will be grabbing the gold medal in this Olympics?
Is Joel Embiid finally finding his groove in the Olympics?
Joel Embiid has not been having a good time at the Paris Olympics in 2024 for the majority of the time. He has been getting booed and jeered every time he touched the ball on the court, especially from the French, following his controversial decision to play for Team USA. But that was not the only reason for the hate. Embiid’s game had not been up to his ‘MVP’ standards in the Olympics for the major part of the tournament, but the big man seems like he is finally getting his groove back.
“Joel played a lot better by the way today, like in the last two games he’s starting to find his way,” Green said. With a combined total of over 25 and 10 rebounds in his last two games, Embiid has been getting it done for Team USA. “I think he has been starting to make that adjustment and learning how to play that role and now he’s looking a lot better and fitting in the team USA.” Green added.

Even though Embiid did not have a pleasant welcome in the Olympics in 2024, he has started to prove people wrong. If the ‘MVP’ caliber Embiid returns to Team USA, in addition to the other star powers in the squad, Team USA looks unstoppable. What are your thoughts on this?
