The Currys have long been known for their winning legacy on the court. But their off-court life is equally inspiring! With three children, Steph, Seth, and Sydel, each blazing their own trails, the Curry family’s story is one of love, support, and a touch of competitive spirit.

And now, as grandparents to their wonderful crew of grandkids, Dell and Sonya Curry are savoring a new chapter. One filled with laughter, discovery – and, of course, a budding jump shot or two!

During Part 2 of the episode, ‘Raising Steph, Seth & Sydel Curry,’ on the Raising Fame series, the 9x grandparents gushed about their growing family. Sonya Curry described the unique joy of watching her grandchildren unfold their personalities. It’s a luxury she did not have with her three kids. “I don’t think I took time to really, really soak it in with my own children, because we were busy raising them,” she confessed.

What’s more, when someone reminds Mama Curry about a certain instance or one incident involving Steph, Seth, or Sydel, all she can say is, “I kind of remember things here and there, but I don’t really just remember just soaking in them and enjoying them like the grand babies.”

But now, whether it’s Riley exploring horseback riding, Ryan perfecting her hip-hip moves, or Carter showcasing her unreal jump shots (so impressive it even wowed Doc Rivers!), Sonya and Dell Curry are savoring every moment. “You think you love your kids, until they have kids,” the 60-year-old Hornets’ color commentator quipped, as Sonya chimed in with a laugh, “And then they are chopped liver.”

As the pair enjoy their nine grandkids’ many talents and quirks – Canon’s grunts included (“Canon … is all boy. He communicates in grunts!” Sonya exclaimed) – the family is preparing to welcome another blessing.

The mother of two recently announced her third pregnancy. And it’s a special one. Having found out they were dealing with infertility issues after her marriage to Damion Lee, the couple went on an emotional rollercoaster before they were blessed with two kids – Daxon and Daryn – through IVF.

But this time, Sydel and Damion are enjoying the “miracle of natural conception due May 2025,” as per her adorable IG post announcing the thrilling news.

Needless to say, the Curry family were beside themselves with joy. No doubt parents reading this can empathize with how tough it must have been for Dell and Sonya Curry to watch their only daughter navigate such a challenging period while her siblings experienced the joys of parenthood.

Anyway, with their May 2025 addition, they will soon be grandparents to a remarkable 10 grandchildren. Surely a milestone to be celebrated! Reflecting on her journey so far as a grandmother, Sonya noted how her grandkids’ evolving interests make the experience even sweeter. “The beautiful thing is watching them unfold the personalities,” emphasizing how special it is to see their individual gifts shine.

While they are a sports family, the Currys are open to having a violinist, if that is where any of the kids’ interest lies. That said, she was in complete awe of Carter’s “perfect jump.” In fact, she noted, “It’s accurate every single time. Like, we’re not kidding! … There’s a gene.”

As Dell and Sonya embrace their growing family, its clear love and legacy remain at the heart of everything they do. Whether it’s cheering on a hip-hip performance, marveling at a jump shot, or preparing for baby no. 10, the Currys prove the best wins are those shared with the family!
