After an exhausting stretch of NBA action, the offseason has given players the time to step away from basketball for a bit. The league’s hectic schedule may drain any player, especially if their team makes it all the way to the Western Conference Semifinals. This was the case with the Golden State Warriors duo of Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. The Splash Brothers have taken this crucial time off basketball to pursue a variety of side quests.
From performing with a popular band on-stage to featuring in skating documentaries, Curry and Klay pursued a wide range of offseason engagements. However, their most significant endeavor came in late June. Just a month after their elimination from the playoffs, the duo embarked on a unique journey. Klay recently remarked on this endeavor of theirs that ended in humiliation.

The Splash Brothers have been having a very exciting offseason so far. Be it the release of Curry’s new documentary “Underrated” or Thompson’s shoe company doing wonders, the duo have had a lot to cheer about during their time off-court. However, when the two NBA superstars decided to team up in a golf event, things did not go their way.
Thompson and Curry teamed up in “The Match” against the Kansas City Chiefs duo, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. Their golfing skills were put to test in this exciting event. However, the Warriors backcourt duo faced humiliation in the hands of the Chiefs duo, losing by a landslide. Klay Thompson recently discussed this very game on 8-time All-Star, Paul George‘s podcast.
“Bro I took it so serious, that’s why it hurt so bad….but you can’t account for the nerves and the crowd,” said the 5-time All-Star, describing his experience.
He added, “I let a a lot of people down Paul. All my fans were like yeah, you and Steph were ’cause they bet….you and Steph are overwhelming favourites like imma put my money on y’all. I’m like alright, so put your money on Steph, don’t put your money on me, put it on Steph.”
The 4-time champion also remarked on how he played that day, saying, “I knew I could help, I was like if I just hit a few good shots…..the chipping in golf is where it’s hard bro….that’s what Kelce and Mahomes was doing so well….that match stuff was intense, I haven’t been that nervous for a sporting event since Game 1 of the 2015 Finals.”
Despite Klay recounting the Splash Brothers‘ sour golf outing, The Match delivered its share of hysterical and impressive moments.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson came into The Match as the favourites to take the trophy home. The Warriors duo looked in great touch and the fans predicted an easy win for the Dubs. However, much to their surprise, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce pulled off an incredible championship heist.
Stephen Curry has been in the golfing world now for several years, also becoming the face of the sport. His skills and a handicap score of +1.3, Curry seemed like the best golfer in the game. However, his skills could not stop the Chiefs duo from handing him a 3&2 loss. The Match went in unexpected ways with Kelce and Mahomes working brilliantly in tandem whereas the Splash Brothers took underwhelming shot after the other.
