In the NBA world, it’s not only the players who bag the big money. The analysts and TV personalities also make big fortune because of the popularity of the sport. ESPN’s veteran sports analyst, Stephen A. Smith, is one most prominent figures in the sports TV business. Notably, he was often criticized for his pay, especially when it surpassed the pay of head coaches of major franchises. In addition to it, an ex-ESPN journalist, who is known for hating Allen Iverson, took a sly dig at A. Smith for his pay.

The 55-year-old NBA analyst began his career as a beat reporter in the early 1990s and eventually grew into the face of ESPN’s NBA division. He also developed a strong voice for himself and passed controversial opinions on the players several times in his career. On the other hand, fans criticized him for earning more than NBA coaches. Notably, only the San Antonio Spurs coach earns more than him.

A recent report suggested that A. Smith earns around $10 million annually, but the star analyst refused to agree to it. He recently said, “I’m sure a lot of you think you know, it’s clearly more than I’m making,” reported Sports Illustrated. On the other hand, Jason Whitlock trashed A. Smith along with ESPN regarding his pay grade and viewership number.

In the latest episode of Fearless with Jason Whitlock, he straight up took a dig at A. Smith’s credibility. He said, When 80 % of the people have no interest in ESPN but they’re footing the bill. That’s why Stephen A. Smith with 400 000 viewers a day can get paid 10 million dollars.” Notably, 400,000 viewers is considered very low for a top-rated sports entertainment company. Following this allegation, he went on to say, “it’s a fantasy world he’s been able to live in because they have a monopoly.”

Importantly, Whitlock parted ways with ESPN in 2015 and stated his peers are not smart enough, reported Barrett Sport Media.

Why did Whitlock hate AI?

When A. Smith covered the Philadelphia 76ers, he made a close relationship Allen Iverson. Even though the duo didn’t speak to each other for two because of a fight, they eventually sorted it and maintain a good bond. On the other hand, Whitlock continued to hate AI.
