Ben Simmons was touted to be the next Magic Johnson when he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers back in 2016. And he did show signs of greatness in his initial years with Philly only to be ridiculed by the fans after his performance in the 2021 NBA playoffs. Since then, things went downhill for relations between Simmons and the 76ers franchise which led to his trade to the Brooklyn Nets.

However, before the trade took place, Simmons chose to sit out a majority of games that cost him a big chunk of money. But after the lawsuit, Simmons got a huge part of it back only to be exposed by Gilbert Arenas.

Ben Simmons? last year with the Philadelphia 76ers ended on a harsh note. So much so that his teammates and head coach turned their backs on him. Which led to Simmons sitting out a number of games.

This in turn caused the 76ers to fine Simmons a huge amount that he won back after a lawsuit. Now, on the most recent episode of Gil?s Arena, the Washington Wizards legend went on to expose Simmons.

During the show, Arenas explained the long game played by Simmons. Arenas said, ?So, he won that lawsuit against Philly. So, he?s back. As soon as he got that check. We didn?t consider that as an option, right??

?If they?re fighting him, he says he has a back injury. He gets traded to the Nets. They?re holding his money. If he plays then his back doesn?t hurt. So, he forfeits the 19-20-something million. So, he has to lay the long game.?

And the long game surely worked out for Simmons as he won the lawsuit and got the money that was being held back by the 76ers.

Will Simmons be able to turn his career around?

Gilbert Arenas may have exposed Ben Simmons but he was also asked what was required of the Australian to get back to an elite level. And all Arensa said was that he just has to play.

Since his departure from Philly, Simmons has not played an entire season due to constant and nagging injuries. However, this offseason, the three-time All-Star feels better than ever and plans on being his dominant self once again.
