In a 2020 interview with Steph, they discuss a range of issues about the promised land of America. In one of the segments, the ex-president discussed the role and influence of his wife on his presidency. Michelle has been a trusted confidante, advisor, and supporter throughout his career. She has always been a strong advocate for family values. Many times, she has spoken out about the importance of parents spending time with their children and setting a good example. This is exactly what she expects from Obama. When Obama was president, it was obvious that he had a very busy schedule. Yet, Michelle insisted that he be home for dinner with the family at 6:30 PM.
Obama shared, “Her (Michelle?s) attitude was look we are starting dinner because I am not gonna have these girls waiting for you. Dinner serves at 6:30, so I advise you to be here at 6:30?.
And this is what made Mr. President set up a schedule and not miss the dinner unless there was some genuine emergency. Obama goes on to say, ?Her (Michelle) anchoring me in that way that actually made me a better president because it reminded me of, alright this is what the families around the country are looking for. How can they spend time with their family? How can they be with their kids? So, it was a continuous sense of focusing on what?s important and that made me a more compassionate and effective president?.
Steph nodded on this with a big agreement. Right before his new season, Curry is spending some quality time with his family in the UAE.?
Obama-Curry friendship is even stronger
In addition to their shared commitment to family, they support each other on different occasions. In 2020, they participated in a virtual town hall to discuss voting and civic engagement. They encouraged young people to register to vote and to make their voices heard in the election.
Obama has been a vocal supporter of Curry and the Warriors. Steph has even visited the white house on multiple occasions, like in 2016 with his championship trophy.
