But, a particular piece of praise had uniqueness written all over it. Milwaukee Bucks‘ Giannis Antetokounmpo took a friendly dig at the World Cup winner with a hilarious social media joke. Notably, this isn’t the first when the Greek Freak has taken a shot.
Giannis took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture from Mbappe’s childhood when he met Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid’s front office. But, the only twist is the Bucks star replaced Mbappe’s face with his childhood face. Moreover, he already established that he looked similar to the French baller. The caption read, “After the negotiations with Al Hilal. Madrid I’m on my way!! Hilal Madrid… Oops I’m sorry I meant Hala Madrid,” along with laughing emojis. But why did he make this unexpected reference?

Giannis Antetokounmpo brought in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal soccer club because last year, around the same time, Mbappe again left the sporting world in disbelief. The Middle Eastern side reached out to the former PSG man with a one-year offer worth $776 million! It left everyone awestruck, but Giannis reacted hilariously. The 29-year-old wrote on X, “Al Hilal you can take me. I look like Kylian Mbappé.” Even the Frenchman took it on a lighter note as he reacted with a flurry of laughing emojis.
Despite the hype that the offer created, Kylian Mbappe refused to accept it, leaving the online world in a meltdown. Nevertheless, he evened it out with the latest Read Madrid update.
Kylian Mbappe and his NBA close connection
The 25-year-old soccer star has been a keen follower of the NBA. Apart from his interaction with Giannis Antetokounmpo on the web, he has attended the games multiple times. He met Kevin Durant during his stint with the Brooklyn Nets. He even had the privilege of entering the Nets’ locker room and spending some time with the players.
Apart from that, he has a very strong bond with the superstar, LeBron James. The duo met each other for the first time at a Nike event in 2018 in New York. At that time, the LA Lakers superstar had also made his entry into the soccer world as an owner.
James has invested in an American Sports Group, Fenway Sports Group, which owns the Liverpool FC. The bond even sparked rumors of Mbappe, eyeing Liverpool as his next destination. Nevertheless, it didn’t materialize.
On the other hand, the Akron Hammer put his creative juice to use and came up with a meme to react to Mbappe’s huge offer from the Middle East. He shared a gif of Forest Gump running with the caption, “Me headed to Saudi when they call for that 1-year deal!” Notably, it was $700 million more than what James received a year as per his current contract.
