The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled a post-Christmas miracle playing against the Rockets. Down 16 points in the last quarter, they had a huge comeback to do a nail-biter 112-113 finish. For the last few seconds, it looked like it was about to be a tie that would go into overtime. But Gilbert Arenas’ favorite youngster said nope. Anthony Edwards’ stepback three ended in the Wolves’ win. And he gave Gil a well-deserved shoutout for the vote of confidence!

After the game, Ant showed the signature confidence that went into the game-winning shot when he said, “I’m like, s–t, I’m going for the win…Like Gilbert Arenas said, I don’t do overtime, so f–k it.

And you know what, Arenas saw it, and he approves of this message. “The Face has Spoken… #NoBodyMoveBUTthefans Game over GO home,” ‘No Chill Gil’ wrote on his Instagram Stories with a decent amount of fire, laughing, and smirking emojis.

If that wasn’t enough, Arenas re-shared the same soundbite on X with the add-on, “WE DON’T DO OVERTIME” and a 100% emoji.

This is definitely going to be a hot discussion on the next panel of Gil’s Arena!

The Rockets were still up by 12 with 3 minutes on the clock, and it looked like it was going to be their game tonight. But Edwards’ 3-point lead with a furious rally from his teammates cut the lead to two points. Ant-Man’s highlight reel moment came with 23 seconds left on the clock. He caught the pass and could’ve easily tied the game with two points. But he stepped back and went for a three for an epic come-from-behind victory.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Anthony Edwards the most exciting young player in the league after that game-winning shot?

His little NSFW rant and Arenas’ endorsement of it come after Ant was fined $75,000 for criticizing officiants with foul language. After the 24-point outing tonight and his clutch heroics, he’s not going to clean up his act anytime soon. Especially with his explicitly unfiltered backer.

Gilbert Arenas’ concerns for Anthony Edwards for naught

Anyone who’s watched Gil’s Arena on the regular would know the namesake is a huge ‘ANT’ fan. He’s his toughest critic for sure, but ‘Agent Zero’ is always in the 23-year-old’s corner. From using him to make his points to breaking down Ant’s plays, Arenas will always hype the Wolves star.

Very recently, Edwards became the youngest NBA pro to reach a milestone 3-point record of 850. At that time, though, Arenas was cynical about Ant changing his style to attempt more threes.

“I think he [Edwards] needs to look at the game on what they’re doing and understand that just because someone sags off doesn’t mean take that open shot,” Arenas had said in a November episode of Gil’s Arena. “You doubled your three-point attempts, but you’re only averaging two more points. If you’re shooting more threes, that means you’re not getting to the free throw line.”

He further expressed concern about Ant’s shooting averages if he attempts too many threes. Statistically, Arenas was right. His drastically improved 3-point efficiency has come at the cost of two-point attempts, free throws, and lower post presence.

But that’s history now. Ant’s three saved the day and took the Wolves to a 16-14 record. And Arenas doesn’t mind providing extra motivation to the young player.
