Fred VanVleet failed to control his emotions with just 4 seconds on the clock! Well, there is no going back. The Houston Rockets star may have to pay the heavy price for his questionable act at the referee late in the Saturday night clash against the Portland Trail Blazers. While he got away with an ejection for now, fans on social media are all over the incident and expect Adam Silver to make the big announcement.
It all began with a nasty play at the late end of the game. With 4.3 seconds left on the clock, the Rockets headed toward a loss and VanVleet pushed down a Blazers defender in an offensive play and gave away a turnover. In frustration, the guard ran his mouth at the ref, immediately facing an ejection. However, as he headed back to the locker room, he pointed his hand close to the ref, saying, “You’re a b**ch,” leaving everyone in shock.
One of the Rockets’ staff had to rush to drag Fred VanVleet aside before he could do something else on the court. It was indeed a frustrating night for the H-Town as they let the Blazers steal the game away in the final few minutes. VanVleet, who already had five fouls against his name, received disciplinary action at the end as well.

Speaking after the game, he said, “I think I’m in enough trouble as it is tonight, so I probably don’t need to discuss too much officiating with you guys… Heat of the moment, you always feel right — I know the refs aren’t trying to be wrong, but we disagreed quite a bit tonight.”

Did Fred VanVleet's outburst cross the line, or was it justifiable frustration in a heated moment?
Have an interesting take?
This isn’t the first time when Fred VanVleet came across a duel with the refs. In response to the star’s frequent business, a fan wrote, “They finna rescind his contract.” Last season, the star received a technical foul following an argument with a ref. And, speaking of it in the post-game presser, he said, “I’ll take a fine, I don’t care. I thought Ben Taylor was f—-g terrible tonight… there’s one or two that just f–k the game up, you know.” And, guess what, the league slapped him with a $30,000 fine.
So, we can expect a similar fate for the star once again, and one of the fans predicted, “500K fine and 5 game suspension incoming.” While the $500k fine is a bit of an exaggeration, the suspension might be a little true. As per the NBA Rulebook under Section VI of technical fouls, a fine of up to $50,000 and suspension can be imposed on the player by the commissioner at his sole discretion. Since VanVleet was a repeat offender in this situation, Adam Silver might throw him under the bus.

While this fan predicted a 5-game suspension, another fan came in with a brutal charge. The fan wrote, “Yeah, he’s done big time. 10+ games I would think.” Last season, the league imposed a 12-game suspension on Draymond Green after he repeatedly engaged in ugly physical altercations. So, what do you think of VanVleet’s situation?
On the other hand, a sad Warriors fan took the comments and wrote, “If Draymond did that he’d be suspended indefinitely plus all his money goes to the ref plus the chair.” This fan can’t be quick with their reaction. The league might drop the hammer any time. A few days ago, Adam Silver dropped a $160k fine on one day against LaMelo Ball, Anthony Edwards, and Doc Rivers. So, the commissioner can come to the Rockets guard at any time. How much fine do you think Fred VanVleet would face? Let us know in the comments.
