Is Kai Cenat's dream of going pro in basketball a bold move or just plain unrealistic?

We all remember how the NBA Celebrity Game went for one of the most popular streamers on the planet, Kai Cenat. At 5-foot-4, he played for Team Shannon during the All-Star break. He also made an appearance in the Dunk Contest, as Jaylen Brown dunked over him while he was sitting in a chair! Funnily enough, Shannon Sharpe’s reaction said it all. In the past, participants in the dunk contest mostly jumped over taller players like Tacko Fall, Shaquille O’Neal, and others, but the Celt decided to jump over the live streamer.

The man’s already 3-foot tall. You put him in a chair. Now he 1’5,” Sharpe said. Regardless, even during the Celebrity game, Kai Cenat barely had the ball in his hands. If anything, fans could see his frustration during the All-Star Celebrity Game MVP ceremony. But just recently, Kai seems to have planned to prove himself to the hoops community. The streamer’s recent announcement, as he added to his Instagram story, read, “I’m quitting streaming and becoming a professional basketball player. Goodbye.”

Now, at the end of the day, he’s not the only celebrity to chase his pro basketball dreams. Remember when J. Cole joined the Canadian Elite Basketball League? He also once aspired to play the game on a professional level and fulfilled his novelty dream by playing 4 games for the Scarborough Shooting Stars.

On the other hand, Kai Cenat is no different. And to everyone’s surprise, the two-time Streamer of the Year is serious about it. So much so that he also announced it on his 46-hour-long marathon stream.

“I am now completing phase of being a professional basketball player. You might be like what the f–k? Listen to me, don’t laugh, don’t laugh. No, no, don’t laugh. I get drafted in a few days. I don’t know if I’m going to get drafted, but I’m in the lottery. Okay. I’m in the lottery. For a league, okay,” Kai revealed while trying to stop his livestream chat from laughing and spamming emoticons.

The content creator, however, hasn’t hinted at any information about the league’s name or its location. On the other hand, overseas leagues such as TPBL in Taiwan had its draft back in July. At this point, it’s truly a mystery as to which professional league Kai Cenat is referring to. But what is his background when it comes to basketball?

Kai Cenat has always been a content creator by heart

Cenat’s friend, IShowSpeed, has also shown his talents on the basketball court. Unlike Kai, he didn’t make an appearance in a Celebrity game, but as seen from 1v1 matchups on live streams, the viral personality might have a genuine interest in going head-to-head with the biggest hoopers. However, Cenat has never shown his interests as such. He’s always been a streamer by heart, featuring celebrities and artists on his livestreams. If anything, it will be intriguing to see whether Kai gets drafted to a professional team.

The only way fans could even catch a glimpse of Kai’s talents was during the All-Star break. But unfortunately, Kai Cenat couldn’t get to show off his skills. He only managed to score 4 points, which looked even worse after he initially predicted he would score 45, to impress Ice Spice on the sidelines! Nevertheless, pursuing one of his forgotten dreams will definitely break the internet.

The content creator recently met with all members of Team USA, including Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and others. Amid the start of the start of the regular season, Kai Cenat can look to seek guidance from his favorite players if need be. Fans all around social media await the said ‘draft lottery,’ which, according to Cenat, will commence in a few days. Well, what are your thoughts on him looking to play professional ball? Which professional league do you think he is referring to? Let us know in the comments.
