Kawhi Leonard and Paul George had a sluggish performance, struggling through three quarters. They ended the game collectively shooting 11-32 from the field. However, a surprising move featuring a Big 4 lineup in the final minutes turned the tide dramatically.

The Clippers mounted an impressive 18-point comeback, followed by an 11-point lead. They achieved this by orchestrating a remarkable 22-0 run to seal the game.

The Clippers’ dominance caught Paul George by surprise

During a post-game interview, Paul was asked about the Clippers’ sudden surge. Addressing the abrupt turnaround, George expressed his astonishment, remarking, “That was a first of a kind.” Additionally, conveying his joy over the victory, Paul succinctly summarized the Clippers’ sluggish start and the unexpected dominance in the closing minutes. “That was a different game, definitely a different game, but happy to be on the winning side of that one.”

Despite facing challenges throughout the game, the Clippers managed to finish with higher efficiency than the Nets, courtesy of their late heroics. Paul George contributed a respectable 12 points, while James Harden led the charge with 24 points and 10 assists. Russell Westbrook delivered a season-high performance, scoring 23 points and narrowly missing a double-double. Additionally, Kawhi Leonard chipped in with 21 points.

Kawhi Leonard was sick before the game

The Clippers encountered a challenging start, falling behind 16-0 as the game kicked off. However, in a spirited response, they launched an impressive 18-2 run. They scored their next 10 points without a miss to level the score at 18. However, that was the closest they were for the majority of the game; until Kawhi Leonard stepped in with pivotal heroics.

Out of his 21 points, 14 came in the final minutes of the game alongside the Big 3. Moreover, with a corner three, Leonard gave the Clippers their first lead of the night with less than 3 minutes remaining on the clock.

After the game, Lue revealed that Leonard had been under the weather before the game. Furthermore, he had been unable to practice with the team the day before, raising uncertainties about his availability for the contest. Nevertheless, the Clippers secured their 10th victory in the last 12 games. Next, they will face the Los Angeles Lakers.
