Anthony Edwards has no filter. Whether it’s the excitement of a victory or the frustration of a controversial call, he never shies away from voicing his opinion. Although his carefree attitude has made him a fan favorite, it has also cost Ant-Man a boatload of money. Yes, the Wolves star has cumulated a whopping sum of $285,000 in fines this season alone. Obviously, the latest one coming after his controversial antics during this weekend’s Grizzlies game. Turns out, Edwards is ready to take complete accountability for his actions and make a major change.
Well, the incident occurred after Edwards received a technical foul for flexing from the bench after an alley-oop throwdown by Rudy Gobert. As shocked as everyone in the arena was by the decision, Ant took his frustration a step further and was seen flipping off the official while his teammates and staff tried to stop him. But the damage was already done! The video went viral and Edwards got penalized with a $50,000 fine.
Revealing if his actions were a result of frustration, Ant-Man said after tonight’s Wizards game, “Nah. Not at all. I made a careless, young, dumb mistake. Shoot birds.” Moreover, he understood that what he does influences a lot of people, “You know I got fans that’s little kids and I got parents that’s looking at me and then knowing that their kids are fan of me and they looking at me like ‘What type of role model is he shooting birds at you know in the middle of a basketball game?’”

Sure enough, Edwards is deemed the future face of the NBA by many and some even call him the second coming of Michael Jordan. And even though his reaction was in the heat of the moment, he realizes that he needs to be more careful about what kind of role model he wants to be for his young fans, “Yeah, that has nothing to do with the refs at all. That’s all me mentally making a dumb, young mistake and I won’t make it again.” And Edwards proved tonight that he is more focused on his on-court performance than his questionable antics.
Anthony Edwards exposes Wizards’ flaw that led to his 41-point performance
Apart from catching a massive fine, Ant-Man also had an abysmal game against the Grizzlies as he scored only fifteen points. But he finally got redemption tonight against the Wizards. Yes, the superstar went off for 41 points and got an easy win for his team. When asked how he was able to do it, he said postgame, “They wasn’t really double-teaming like I don’t think it was as obvious as all the other games… I kind of realized like ‘Oh, they not sending two right now. So, let me be aggressive.’”
Yes, Edwards has admitted in the past that he has had major issues getting past double-teams this season. But that was not the case tonight because the Wizards did not use that strategy to stop him. And they paid a hefty price because of it. Hopefully, this performance will help Ant-Man turn things around and avoid losing his cool in the future like he promised.
