After decades of domination by American athletes in the NBA, the league may finally be witnessing a power shift. European players like Luka Doncic, the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and this year’s NBA champion, Nikola Jokic are getting involved in conversations for the top five players in the league. And rightfully so, from an argument’s standpoint. However, this former All-Star does not seem to agree with that.
Players like Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant are still on top of their games, with little to no sign of slowing down as of now. Yet, other European players are taking the conversation of being the top players in the league.

Former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas recently went off against his fellow hosts on his podcast Gil’s Arena. The conversation was about how European basketball stars are taking the game away from American basketball players.
On the most recent podcast, one of the hosts started the debate when he asked the rest, “Does America needs to take back its respect in basketball?” To that, one of the hosts readily agreed.
He went on to say that there might be only one American player who is in the top five conversations right now. And that immediately irked Arenas as he snapped at him by saying, “Stop!”
The host who agreed with the question brought up the names of players who he thinks are in the top five. He said, “Let’s go Luka, let’s go Embiid, let’s go Jokic, let’s go Giannis. I’m drinking 90%.”
The list made by that one host managed to fire up Arenas. He snapped and brought up the argument for Stephen Curry. “There’s no Curry? There’s no KD? There’s no Ky? What’re you talking about? We’re not talking about records here.”

As the conversation went on to turn into a heated debate, one of the hosts asked Arenas if he thought Kevin Durant was still in the top five. Agent Zero immediately replied by saying, “F**k yeah.”
