A big fight feeling will grip the Chase Center on November 12, 2024. It’s Klay Thompson‘s homecoming and he should brace for some rough play from Draymond Green, who has already declared his intentions of running through the chest of his former teammate. Klay took that lightly, excited at the prospect of a few free throws but the story runs deeper than that. Draymond’s comment about Klay did not just come out of the blue. Certain words were spoken and, as a result, a top-notch billing is upon us.
Draymond revealed the backstory behind his infamous claim of physically dominating Klay. And it’s not a made-up story because Moses Moody vouched for it. During the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis, the discussion about Klay took center stage. After Moody spoke about his former colleague, Draymond unraveled the truth behind his bold statement.
Taking back to the summer Draymond described an incident when he was training at Ueland. The Mavs players also turned up. When one of the Dubs players was talking to Kyrie, Klay reprimanded him for talking to the opposition. When Dray heard about it he thought Klay was just joking. “And so sure enough, the next day I’m working out, they come in again and after me, and I’m talking to Ky. And he (Klay) walked up, Ky, you talking to the opps?”, Green recalled.

“So therefore I’m gonna run through his chest when we play them now. I wasn’t going to, but now I’m going to run through his chest,” Draymond said about his changed plan since Klay’s trade in July. Not only Draymond, his Dubs partner and former half of the Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry also revealed his plans for Klay’s homecoming.
Stephen Curry opens up about his mindset ahead of Klay Thompson homecoming
When Stephen Curry saw Klay Thompson standing with his new Mavericks teammate, Dereck Lively II, during the WNBA matchup between the Aces and Liberty, he reacted like he was disgusted. “Ew! Ew!” the 36-year-old said, telling the pair to make room for him to pass by, as he waved his hand so that they cleared the way. Of course, it was all good fun, given the strong bond between Curry and Klay. However, Curry told ESPN that it won’t be fun, but rather a “war,” when the ex-backcourt partners face off on the hardwood.

The point guard confessed, “Through training camps and practices, we played against each other on opposite teams but nothing like an actual competitive NBA game.” When the day comes, Curry said, “I’m going to be fully engaged and present and making sure you celebrate him the way he’s supposed to. And then after that, it’s war.”
When the teams meet for the NBA Cup clash, the Warriors will surely give their former star a special welcome on that day, possibly with a video package like Paul George received from the Clippers. And as Curry mentioned, he would ensure the fans celebrate Klay, but once the game begins, he’ll set aside the brotherly love and focus on competing. And that’s just how everyone wants it to be.
