Kyrie talks about his fondness for his firstborn child

Azurie Elizabeth Irving was born on November 23, 2015, in Dallas, Texas, and she has been a bright spot in Kyrie Irving’s life ever since. The NBA superstar’s child was named after his late mother, Elizabeth Irving, who died in September 1996. Azurie’s childhood began in the spotlight because her father’s profession was already flourishing when she was born. Kyrie Irving has been a significant figure in the NBA since signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011. He’s played for a number of teams over the years. They include the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets, and his rise to prominence has been nothing short of miraculous.

However, in his docuseries, Life of Kai he spoke about his relationship with his daughter. Irving said, “my first born child Azurie Elizabeth Irving, she is the one. It’s beautiful that I have the relationship I do now with her because it has taken time, it has taken patience, it’s taken a lot of sacrifice.”  

He further went on to say how he used to spend most of his time on court with his team and staff than he did with his family. Due to this he never got to spend a lot of time with his children and always regretted it. However, now as Irving has matured he realized that “family is the priority.” So his current wife Marlene Wilkerson started getting his children on the road so they could spend more time together and form a healthy relationship.

Azurie Elizabeth is not alone in the Irving family tree. In addition to her father, she has two half-brothers, one of whom they named Kaire. Kyrie Irving’s kid, Kaire, was born in June 2021 alongside his fiancée, Marlene Wilkerson, an American model and media developer. Azurie’s family expanded again in October 2022, but the identity of her new sister remained a well-guarded secret.
