The Portland Trail Blazers‘ ray of hope Scoot Henderson may have let down the Rip City fans! The 20-year-old guard came into the league last season, with a lot of expectations tied around him. Above all, after Damian Lillard‘s departure, fans viewed the rookie as the future of the team. Despite the pressure, Henderson put up a decent show. But it still wasn’t enough. Now, with the fresh season coming up along with added expectations, the Georgia native led the NBA world to suspect him of a drug test with bizarre behavior on Media Day.
Interestingly, this wasn’t the first when Henderson came under such scrutiny. Before we look back at the past, let’s focus on the Blazers Media Day. The team finished at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 21-61 record. Moreover, the team hasn’t made any significant changes in the off-season to raise the stakes for the upcoming season. At the same time, fans didn’t expect their potential superstar player to showcase a questionable demeanor in front of the journalists.
Sitting on the podium, Scoot Henderson geared himself to respond to the questions coming his way with a face full of smiles at the press conference. A reporter asked, “What do you look back on about your rookie season… What did you learn from it?” The rising star, who took a second, responded with something very unusual. Delivering his sentences in a slow and stuttered manner, Henderson said, “I looked back at the food, the good food that I had. Yeah, a lot of food. Um, and then know what I’ve learned from it.”

Instantly, it grabbed the attention of the online content creators and the video went viral on social media. While some fans joked about the response, others urged the league to drug test the youngster. Notably, a fan directly wrote, “Drug test him.”
“That’s a failed drug test” – Scoot Henderson’s sketchy act left fans floored
This isn’t the first time that fans have made such a request to the league. During Henderson’s rookie season, looking at the rising star’s ripped physique, fans jokingly asked for a drug test. Not to forget, NBA players put in a lot of hours in the gym and carve out an aesthetic body. In the same vein, Henderson also entered the league with a stunning body. However, this time around, fans requested to drug test Henderson not to compliment him.
Reacting to the viral clip, a fan wrote, “That’s a failed drug test, right there. FADE SCOOT!” Notably, the response to the particular question may look like the star was intoxicated, but following that, Henderson had clear answers to other questions.

Another fan, without any hesitation, dragged Adam Silver into the picture, writing, “Buddy is about to a call from Silver himself lmao.” Importantly, drug tests could get tricky sometimes. During the 2022-23 season, Ja Morant came under the scanner for his overt athleticism, and the league drug-tested him 6 times in a single season. It’s important to note that the results came negative in all six times. Nevertheless, fans found humor in the situation, particularly, a fan wrote, “Scoot Henderson clearly showed up to media day out of his mind with all due respect.”
