Darvin Ham’s In-season Tournament charm continues to shine as he wins two championships in two years. The only catch is, it was with two different franchises. Moreover, the 51-year-old coach is yet to lose a game in the NBA Cup, as he holds a 14-0 record. Amid the controversies surrounding his dismissal from the LA Lakers‘ fold, Ham’s uncanny achievement leaves the NBA world perplexed. Fans immediately stormed the social media comments section after the Milwaukee Bucks decimated the OKC Thunder to lift the trophy.

Moreover, it wasn’t just Ham who held this feat, but also the Bucks’ new starting forward Taurean Prince. Last season, the 30-year-old star played for the Lakers under Ham. The coach went through a lot of scrutiny throughout his stint concerning his decision-making and lack of locker room unity. Despite the noise, the Lakers managed to win the inaugural edition of the NBA Cup that too in an undefeated fashion.

However, the 2024 postseason didn’t go in his favor as the Lakers exited after the first round, and following that the team dismissed Darvin Ham with one more season left in the contract. The team moved on with JJ Redick, once again with a lot of frenzy surrounding him. At the same time, Ham made a surprise appearance during a game, sitting among the Bucks’ assistant coaching staff. And now he became the only coach to hold two NBA Cups without defeats. Not to forget, Taurean Prince also became the only player with two NBA Cups. Let’s find out what fans have to say.

Following that, most of the reactions were linked to the Lakers’ controversy. A fan wrote, “He might’ve never been the problem in LA,” emphasizing that Ham wasn’t the problem in the Lakers’ failure last season. In fact, Ham helped the team reach the playoffs twice and the West Conference Finals once. Above all, JJ Redick couldn’t make much difference with his new role, as the team continues to struggle at the 10th seed with a 14-12 record.

Another fan, further adding to the comment, wrote, “LeBron watching Darvin Ham succeed without him,” sharing a picture of Skip Bayless. The veteran NBA analyst is known for his constant criticism of LeBron James despite his success. This fan reversed the roles and placed King James in the analyst’s shoes and trolled him for wanting to criticize the coach. Moreover, several reports suggested that James had a prominent role in Ham’s dismissal.

On the other hand, this fan continued to believe that Ham didn’t make any impact on the Lakers’ NBA Cup success last year. They wrote, “Darvin Ham succeeding by doing to bare minimum. You love to see it.” Fans often share images of Ham, standing on the courtside with his hands inside his trouser pockets, stressing that he didn’t make any effort. Nevertheless, a fan wrote that Ham is the “Greatest coach of the NBA Cup Era” as collected $500k twice in two years, winning the NBA Cup as a coach.
