Russell Westbrook and his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate tingle the good old memories of fans. The Beastbrook certainly didn’t have a great time in the NBA over the last few seasons. Just as the star gears up for the upcoming season, amid the rumors of him joining hands with Nikola Jokić, he linked up with Victor Oladipo. Notably, the former teammate was on a ‘Revenge Tour’ alongside the 2017 NBA MVP.

The video of Oladipo linking up with Russ at the recent WNBA game between the Las Vegas Aces and Los Angeles Sparks went viral. In that video, the duo can be seen hugging it out with a bit of chatter, giving the fans online a wholesome moment. Reacting to the moment, a fan wrote, “You love to see it.”

One may come across this video as an ordinary link-up between former teammates, but it has a lot of depth to it. Especially with Oladipo, who missed the entire 2023-24 and hasn’t played more than 85 games in the previous 5 seasons because of injuries. S

peaking of struggles with Vince Carter, in 2022, Oladipo opened up about his ‘Revenge Tour’. He added, “When I say revenge, I’m talking about God’s revenge. They messed up my surgery, I sat back. I tore my quad. I sat back. Now that my time arrived, I truly believe that so. That’s the revenge tour.”

Unfortunately, the star couldn’t make it big as he again suffered a knee injury during his last stint with the Miami Heat. Eventually, the Grizzlies, who traded him at the 2024 trade deadline, waived his contract in May. Nevertheless, he stood up beside Russell Westbrook, when the Lakers scapegoated him in the 2023 trade deadline. Moreover, Oladipo declared that Russell Westbrook and he were on the “same wavelength” as he spoke about his ‘Revenge tour’.

Fans swarm to cherish “insanely wholesome” moment

Despite Victor Oladipo’s dip in the career graph, fans didn’t seem to have forgotten the 2x NBA All-Star. And for the fans, who might have forgotten, a fan wrote, “Some people probably forget but VO told a story about how Russ helped him become the All-Star he turned into.” Even though Oladipo played only one season with Russell Westbrook, he played with him during his most important season. The 2016-17 season was the season when Russ picked up the MVP trophy.

Speaking of that experience in 2022, Oladipo said, “Me and Russ go way back, you know what I’m saying, and we played together in 2015 (2016-17) when he won MVP. So, you know, he prepared me for the following year to have a year I have after I left OKC and, you know, I feel like I helped him prepare himself for his MVP season before he became MVP.” In the following two seasons, the star got two All-Star call-ups.
