Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth. After being abandoned by his father and kicked out of his house by his mother at the age of 13, the aspiring player’s life was a struggle. Today, after having spent more than 13 years with the NBA, he has accumulated a net worth of over $80 million. However, having reached millionaire status is not stopping the player from complaining when things are more highly-priced than they should be.

A few hours later, the official Instagram handle of the Bleacher Report highlighted a clip that went viral almost 9 months ago. It features the Heat star stopping at a gas station to fill up his Bugatti car. Given that the vehicles manufactured by the brand are not known for possessing the best fuel economy, Butler shouldn’t have been surprised that the cost to fill up his petrol tank went up to $145. However, it did. Unable to hide his displeasure, he could be audibly heard saying “This is Crazy. I’m going electric”.

The events of the clip are old news. However, the same is again going viral once again due to a recent event. The same was highlighted by a fan in the comments section, who proceeded to state “Bro be playing 100k poker games but complaining about $145”. This was a reference to when Jimmy Butler attended a high-stakes Poker game held at LA’s Hustler Casino a few days ago. The NBA player wasn’t the only celebrity present, as the table also hosted professional boxer Ryan Garcia, football legend Neymar, and renowned poker expert Dan Bilzerian. During the matchup, Bilzerian offered Butler $10k if he agreed to fold, which he refused. The risk paid off, and Butler won $121,000 in just one round. For someone who wins big, handing out a few extra dollars for petrol shouldn’t have been that big of a deal.

Fans react to Jimmy Butler complaining about spending $145 on petrol

The above-mentioned remark was just one example. Soon after the video went viral, it didn’t take long for people to descend on the comments section to share their reactions. One social user outright stated “Low key hate when rich people complain about this. You’re driving a Bugatti… weren’t you playing 10k blackjack yesterday…?”

It is no secret that gas prices have seen an increase in the last few years. Unfortunately, it doesn’t help that Jimmy Butler chose to complain about the same while driving a Bugatti car. According to the Robb Report, the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport’s fuel economy is simply jaw-dropping, since driving even 25 miles can cost the car owner over $10.86. Furthermore, if Butler has the potential to play a high-stakes poker game, then he is in a better position to pay for his needs than all the other people in the US dealing with the same situation whilst driving a less expensive car.

One individual combined Jimmy Bulter’s woes and professional woes by commenting “Bro never playing for a California team bc of gas prices”.

Jimmy Butler is among the group of NBA players who are expected to be traded off to another team during the ongoing off-season. The rumors have been circulating ever since it was indicated that the Miami Heat is allegedly not ready to pay the 2-year, $113 million extension that the player has been seeking. While some reports have linked him to the Philadelphia 76ers, which has the cap space to cover Butler’s asks, others have shown him heading to the Los Angeles Lakers. After all, when he complimented WNBA rookie Cameron Brink by stating “For some reason, 22 just looks good in purple and gold”, he may have hinted at something more. However, since the Robb Report claims that Butler’s petrol clip was taken “in or near Los Angeles”, the high price could impact his overall team selection decision.

Another social media user went in a different direction and defended the NBA star. He linked Butler’s complaint to his humble background by stating “he used to be homeless.. he still feelin that sh*t like ‘us’”.

After a young Butler was kicked out of the house at the age of 13, he reportedly moved around, living with one friend for some time before heading off to live with another. Before starting high school, he befriended a guy by the name of Jordan Leslie, who would later go on to become a wide receiver in the NFL. Even though Jordan had six other siblings, his mother took Butler in and raised him as one of her own. The generosity he received back then continues to remain a prominent memory in the NBA player’s mind.
