Does knowing Durant's real height change your perception of his dominance on the court?

Human beings, generally, do love to boast. And there’s nothing wrong with that, especially when you carry a certain skill set considered valuable. For students, it could range from being academically proficient to managing non-academic activities just as fine. When you move further up, it could be employees who have a penchant for being highly efficient, or entrepreneurs who successfully maneuver multiple businesses. But when you move to the NBA, it seems one area these athletes seem to love talking about is their towering height.

After all, basketball players are renowned for their physique. And yet, even among them, there just has to be that one guy who stands out – Kevin Durant. While the majority of basketball players wouldn’t mind adding in those extra inches, here’s someone who’s doing the exact opposite. It surely has been a long back and forth with KD and his height. But we’ve got help now and that too, from two of his own.

In an adorable video from ‘Overtime’ on Instagram, Durant’s father and brother weigh in on the age-old question. And quite a lot of you will be happy with their answers. The video, captioned, “I been saying he wasn’t 6’9” for years 😂@easymoneysniper @nikeeyb” featured a group of young hoopers, along with the 2x champion’s elder brother, Tony, and dad, Wayne Pratt. Both the brother and father had no doubts as to the height of the Slim Reaper“7’0! Exactly.”

The veteran forward recently said, after the hilariously controversial Team USA group photo, that he was 6’9, and probably the rest of the team is lying! “I’m 6-9 so those guys must be shorter than what they say… Embiid’s not 7 feet,” KD said. Considering the above video, it looks like he might have some explaining to do. The Phoenix Suns, though, have officially listed him as 6’11. Then again, throughout his 17-year career, the 35-year-old’s height has gone from 6’9 to 6’11.

But there has been an instance, around 8 years ago, where ‘Durantula’ admitted that he could very well be regarded as a 7-footer.

Have an interesting take?

Standing next to some of the 6’10, 6’11 players, and even a ‘7-foot Joel Embiid’, it’s understandable why there would be confusion. KD either stands taller or very close to their height, despite putting himself at 6’9. But it seems like the Warriors TV play-by-play announcer, Bob Fitzgerald, managed to squeeze out the truth. The 14x All-Star granted an exclusive interview after his move from Oklahoma City to the Dubs in 2016. The Bay Area radio station, KNBR, broadcasted the tête-à-tête. And what was his response?

“Since I love you guys so much, I was recorded at 6’10” and three-quarters with no shoes, so with my shoes on I’m 7-feet.” Finally!

So, why exactly was there the need for such confusion? He had yet another classic KD reply: “I just like messin’ with people. They just ask me so much… yeah, I just like messin’ with people.” Well … in that case, we are back to square one, aren’t we? Although, it seems that one aspect might just remain a constant.

“When I’m talking to women, I’m seven feet. In basketball circles, I’m 6-9.” Guess Kevin Durant is human, after all. Thoughts?
