With several stories yet to develop at the season’s end, somehow, Bronny James manages to top NBA headlines. Currently, the basketball world seeks LeBron James‘ son’s decision on his professional journey – will he declare for the 2024 NBA drafts or pursue another year with the USC Trojans? However, few recent updates indicated that the 19-year-old might have other plans; an institutional change. Just a few hours ago, Dick Weiss reported that “Bronny James is entering the transfer portal.”

However, a simple vetting brings contrasting facts to light. According to George Michalowski, an expert in the transfer portal recruiting world, “Bronny James is still not in the transfer portal” as of 7:51 EST. Nick Lorensen also posted a similar update two hours after Weiss’ declaration.

The former portal reporter builds, “I can confirm that Bronny James is currently not in the NCAA transfer portal database.” Adding details of his research, he argues about the authenticity of Bronny’s decision, writing, “Unless he has expressed intent, there is nothing official yet.”

Trojans’ head coach Andy Enfield recently made a shift to Southern Methodist University, leaving the door open for the players to take their talents elsewhere. With that, their starter Kobe Johnson followed the line. However, Bronny’s alleged resettling comes as a shock, given the media presence around him and his bond with Los Angeles.

Only time or a direct encounter with the younger James can solidify the news about his transfer. However, if a refresh highlights Bronny’s name in the portal database, it will put an end to the debates of his 2024 NBA drafts. Nevertheless, it will, for a brief time, spark another one.

Bronny’s decision to transfer will resonate with an inclination toward fixing his disappointing run this season. From being a 4-star recruit out of high school, the youngster suffered a cardiac arrest last year, rendering a dismal 4.8 points (36.6% shooting), and 2.1 assists as his averages. What better way of inner reflection than taking his talents to Ohio, where he spent the majority of his childhood?

Luckily, in the past, the Ohio State Buckeyes have displayed an interest in lil-Bron and were one of three finalists before the young guard landed in USC. The other team is the squad at the Oregon Ducks. However, USC harbored a much more fitting cultural aspect for Bronny. As discussed in Uninterrupted’s Top Class, USC, due to its reputation of being home to families of celebrities and the rich, created an even stage (media-wise) for Bronny.

This made it a right fit for him to sprout the promise around his game (plus, it was closer to home). While he only saw 6 starts with USC, in the coming year, a place like Oregon can immediately give him a starting spot; truly enabling Bronny with opportunities to ignite his 2025 NBA draft prospect.

The rumors around James’ transfer came after Andy Enfield switched to SMU Mustangs, marking another candidate for Bronny’s new home. However, if he aims for a coaching shift, Duquesne Dukes offers more than that. Dru Joyce III, LeBron James’ high school teammate and close friend, leads the team.
