The Democratic Party will officially nominate their candidate at the 3-day Democratic National Convention. With President Joe Biden dropping out of the race on June 21, Vice President Kamala Harris will be officially confirmed as the one to go up against Donald Trump in the November Elections. The NBA and the hoops community are aligning themselves with the election too, as the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made headlines after his speech on the opening night of the DNC. However, 1378.5 miles away from the City of Chicago, is Jaylen Brown looking to take himself in the opposite direction?
A recent update from an X account @SidelineFilmz reveals that Jaylen Brown arrived at Donald Trump’s Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago! While surrogates from the Trump campaign are expected to hold events at the billionaire’s Chicago hotel to reportedly counter everything that happens at the DNC, the former president himself has not chosen to attend any event and remain in his primary residence.
The 2024 NBA Finals MVP, who resides in Massachusetts, wouldn’t have made the trip if not for a specific reason. This alleged Jaylen Brown claim went viral only a few hours after Steve Kerr concluded his speech at the DNC.

It comes a couple of weeks after the Warriors and Team USA head coach joined Steph Curry to endorse Kamala Harris. In his fiery remarks amidst the roar of the crowd at the United Center, Kerr compared how the athletes from Team USA came together to find success at the 2024 Paris Olympics to the unity that could be achieved by the presumptive Democratic nominee and her vice-presidential pick Tim Walz.

Steve Kerr also referenced Steph Curry’s viral night-night gesture and stated, “After the results are tallied that night, we can in the words of Stephen Curry, we can tell Donald Trump… night night!” In light of this, no one would blame Jaylen Brown for leveling the playing field by handing his support to Trump instead. However irrational the previous line might sound, if history has taught us anything, then the NBA Final MVP would be one of the last people to do so!

Except for the update from @SidelineFilmz on X, no other source has yet confirmed that the Boston Celtics player is at Mar-a-Lago. Furthermore, two days ago, Jaylen Brown was captured enjoying his off-season time at the exotic Middle-Eastern city of Manama, Bahrain. How does the EssentiallySports Fact Check team know this, you may ask? It’s because the 27-year-old himself shared an update of him enjoying in a pool, through his official Instagram account.
Keeping the location factor aside, one has to consider the fact that the NBA star has never been a big fan of the former president. In fact, alongside LeBron James, he was one of the most vocal critics from 2017-21.
Back in August 2018, Jaylen Brown went viral for claiming that Trump is “doing a good job of making a lot of people upset.” Before that, in an interview with The Guardian reporter Donald McRae about the presence of racism in the US, the Celt stated, “You have less people coming to your face and telling you certain things. But Trump has made it a lot more acceptable for racists to speak their minds.”
While praising NFL star Colin Kaepernick for peacefully protesting the social injustice, Jaylen Brown believed that the 45 President Trump’s “character” and a few values he possessed reportedly made him “unfit to lead.” He did not shy away from claiming that Trump sitting in the Oval Office was allegedly nothing short of “scary.”
Jaylen Brown was amongst the first people from the NBA to speak after Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were elected. Unlike others, however, he did not hand out his full endorsement to the new administration. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP highlighted that the arrival of “a new president doesn’t mean the system doesn’t need to be changed and people need to be pacified or anything like that.”

Jaylen Brown has portrayed himself to be a neutral figure when it comes to politics. However, while he could’ve changed his mind or taken some stance, his remarks about Donald Trump have strongly suggested that he wouldn’t visit the former president.
