The realm of celebrity romance and intrigue is weaved by rumors and gossip. The LA Lakers‘ guard Austin Reaves found himself caught in one such rumor back in the summer. Word on the street was that Austin was seen with pop star Taylor Swift in June of this year, sparking rumors that the two might be romantically involved.

This went viral on social media as fans immediately ate it up, as it happened right around the time Taylor separated from ex-lover Matty Healy. However, it turns out that the rumors surrounding Austin and Taylor were just that- rumors. In fact, Taylor is currently dating the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce of the NFL and they look very happy together. Now that Austin is inextricably linked to Taylor thanks to the rumors, it begs the question: is he the biggest Travis Kelce fan or the biggest hater?

Travis Kelce is elite

Travis Kelce has been making the headlines both on the field as well as off the field. With a charismatic personality, Travis has his own sizable share of fanbase. His relationship with Taylor came to light after they were spotted together on multiple occasions. Austin, on the other hand, who has never even met the pop star but was associated with her through rumors, wishes the couple nothing but the best.

It turns out that Austin does not watch football often, but game definitely recognises game as he tells The Ringer, “Travis is elite. I don’t have no problem with him and I wish them nothing but the best.” Austin has nothing against the Kansas high end and is focused on his own game as the new season has kicked off. However, he does find the rumor about his association with Taylor funny because it does not make sense to him at all.

It did not make sense for Austin who rarely went out

Austin recounts the time when the rumor was at its peak, and being from a small town himself, it was a crazy ordeal for the 25-year-old. He recalls, “The crazy part was that they said uh, they seen us in a bar in Arkansas. One, I don’t go out.” Austin admits that he rarely goes out and to hear that he was hanging around in a bar, with Taylor Swift was crazy to him. But wait, the plot thickens.

The rumor was actually started by someone from the Clippers. As Austin puts it, an employee or an employer from the Clippers used a burner phone to propagate the rumor. If that is true, we now begin to wrap our heads around the question of why they would do so
