“Yeah, I know it’s nice, I’m living there, man,” when Larry Nance Jr. said this after his mid-season trade to the Pelicans, he did not know that he would face any kind of trouble in his house-swap scheme. New Orleans and Portland had decided to swap Josh Hart and Larry Nance Jr. Moving mid-season were not easy, but little did they know that the latter might not last in the uncomfortable setting in the long term.
Rather, Hart was the one who first checked out Nance Jr.’s place and agreed to swap homes. But the Hawks star recently revealed that he did not love each part of the process. He shed light on The Hoop Collective podcast saying, “We switched teams, and I owned a house in Portland, and he owned a house in New Orleans and me and him were very close from our days in LA [Lakers]… We didn’t trade houses like here’s the papers to it. But yeah, just went down there and plugged in where he plugged out of and, you know, just swapped.”
Josh Hart was already in New Orleans for the past two and a half seasons. That’s why he had a residence in the Louisiana. Moreover, the duo’s friendship dates back to their Lakers days (2017) through “video game” bonding. Therefore, both of them had no initial objections to swapping residences. But the Hawks star has now confessed to Brian Windhorst’s panel, “I live my life very, things have to be out away organized, the floor has to be dusted swifter, whatever you do. Like I am meticulous about the way I live.”

“He’s [Josh] is fantastic. His wife Shannon is great but like their Rottweilers did a number on us,” the Hawks star revealed about his good pal. However, Larry Nance Jr. said it on a lighter note, considering his good rapport with the now-Knicks star. Nevertheless, it seems the events that followed the trade on the court did not fall in line with what Larry expected them to be.
Larry Nance Jr. ‘hated’ the fact that Josh Hart was not there to assist him on his new team!
The transaction with Josh Hart and Larry Nance Jr. was interesting for both franchises. However, it did not fit well with Larry, as he couldn’t unite with one of his best friends. “I hated it. Not to say I hated the trade, but I hated it. I wish we would’ve kept him. That’s, obviously, one of my closest friends in the NBA, “ Larry told the media. Both shared a great bond that they formed over a short span at the Lakers. As per the Knicks star revelation to ESPN, they forged a “deeper friendship” after playing Fortnite together “for hours.”
That is why Josh Hart mentioned “video games was an avenue” that sealed his bond with Larry and it continues to this day! However, it couldn’t last long, as during Josh Hart’s rookie season, Nance Jr. was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ultimately, their paths grew further apart as Rob Pelinka’s front office sent Hart to New Orleans in 2019 for Anthony Davis.
Years later, just when both of the NBA stars thought they would reunite on the league team, they became a passerby to each other during the Pelicans-Portland trade because of matching salaries.
