Ex-Laker Mac McClung Details His “Video Game” Like Experience Playing With LeBron James

Mac McClung is a shooting guard who is currently representing the Philadelphia 76ers. Mac McClung’s basketball journey is an indication of his perseverance, tenacity, and unwavering pursuit of his NBA aspirations. He is from a little town in Virginia and has quickly progressed through numerous NBA clubs, acquiring critical lessons along the way. He has been performing exceptionally well and even won the G-League title with the Blue Coats. Not only that, he even won the 2023 Slam Dunk contest with a perfect score.

The guard had even been a part of the Akron Hammer’s team, the Los Angeles Lakers. And in an interview, he spoke about his experience of playing with LeBron James.

McClung talks about his experience of playing with James

Mac McClung recently appeared as a guest on the famous talk show “Run it Back”. There they asked him “What is it like being around LeBron, and what was it like being on a team like that?” To that Mac said, “I mean it was my first year so, being a kid from Gate-City Virginia, it was like i was in a video game or something. So, I think it was really cool for me to kinda just grow up and see like what it takes.”

He further added, “A guy that’s the best in the league you know in the film room for hours, first one in the gym like, it was like man this is what it is.” While McClung admits he wasn’t particularly close to LeBron James, the influence of seeing and learning from the 4x NBA champion was huge. Watching James’ work ethic, resilience, and professionalism acted as motivation for the young guard.

During his time with the City of Angels, he made an impact on the team and the league by showcasing his skillset in a 22-minute appearance. His attacking prowess and his shooting efficiency demonstrated his potential as a talented athlete in the league.

Where does McClung come from?

McClung’s narrative begins in Gate City, a tiny town that isn’t known for producing NBA players. However, his love of the game and constant dedication propelled him into the basketball limelight. He was however undrafted in 2021, but later his journey led him to a number of big franchises, Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and now the Philadelphia 76ers.
