Debates comparing two prominent players fill the NBA world. From ‘Who is the GOAT between Michael Jordan and LeBron James’ to ‘Which was the better rivalry’ such questions have often intrigued not only fans but players too, both current and former. One former hooper was so bold as to favor Kyrie Irving over Stephen Curry at one point in time!
Even after a month, this NBA personality does not seem to have changed his tune! NFL legends DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy, hosts of the ‘The 25 10 Show’, recently invited Nick Young for a chat. During the conversation, the topic shifted to discussing Stephen Curry. The 2018 NBA champion revealed that the Warriors legend’s ability to constantly be on the move differentiated him.
Having gone up against Stephen Curry in 15 games over 9 years, and served as his teammate for a season, Nick Young eventually realized that one can’t just keep standing in one spot if he wants to defend the All-Time Three-Point Leader.

Despite all the praise that came from the former player about the beloved Splash Bro, he had to let out an “Oooh” when asked if he would choose to declare him the best point guard of all time.
“I’d say he is No. 1. All-Time,” said Nick Young.
At the same time, co-host LeSean McCoy chimed in and decided to declare Curry as the GOAT PG over Magic Johnson. After all, he believed, “He (Curry) don’t fit in that crowd and he’s still there. He’s not the fastest, he don’t jump the highest, he ain’t the biggest, he ain’t the most explosive, but he’s in there with all these other greats. That’s why I’m like ‘There’s nobody else like him.’”
Unfortunately, even before McCoy could provide his reasoning, Young was already like, “See, I don’t know.”
The hooper’s confused state is similar to what many NBA fans felt as well. While Swaggy P was ready to consider Stephen Curry as the GOAT PG, hearing someone take him over 5x champ Magic Johnson made him take a step back, immediately.

Is Stephen Curry truly the GOAT PG, or does Magic Johnson still hold the crown?

Nick Young’s recent resistance in placing Stephen Curry over Magic Johnson would not have helped to make his case against the same NBA enthusiasts who weren’t that impressed with what the former hooper had to say about a month ago.
Nick Young once used a Kobe Bryant-Michael Jordan comparison to place Kyrie Irving over Stephen Curry…
Back in late August, Young had put out a tweet stating, “Kyrie is the Kobe to curry mj ppl scared to say he’s better,” accompanied by a side-eye emoji. For some, this statement was a source of confusion over what exactly the former player was attempting to express. Others, however, understood that Young was implying that people are afraid to sometimes place Kyrie Irving over Stephen Curry, the same manner in which some hesitated in choosing Kobe Bryant over Michael Jordan.
Nick Young would add to his belief a few days later during an appearance on Gilbert Arena’s podcast, stating, “I like Curry. I like both, but the way people talk about Kyrie is not the same way people talk about Curry.”
Young’s remarks were not well received by many. Jonah Kubicek, a journalist for Give Me Sport, considered the tweet a disrespect for 3 NBA legends. According to him, “Saying that Jordan is worse than Bryant is disrespectful to MJ, claiming that Irving is better than Curry is disrespectful to the greatest shooter ever, and comparing Bryant and Irving is disrespectful to the Black Mamba.”

Warriors Talk reported that the ex-player’s statement created a debate, with someone making a case for Irving on the grounds that he is “more skilled.”
When discussing underrated players amongst the modern field of NBA stars, Kyrie Irving’s name often pops up. Along with having averaged 23.6 points, 4 rebounds, and 5.7 assists over 13 years, the player is often lauded for his acrobatic finishes, crossover moves, and iconic pull-up jump shots, including a notable one that he made over Stephen Curry himself during the 2016 NBA Finals.
Despite this, there have been some factors over the player’s career that have worked against him. For one thing, Irving has allegedly found success under the shadow of other key players like LeBron James and Luka Doncic. While he got his moment to shine with the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets, his departure from the Celtics placed him amongst the most hated by the franchise fans.

Meanwhile, Stephen Curry has devoted the entirety of his career to a single franchise, has led it for more than a decade, and ushered in its golden era by securing four championship titles.
So, the question posed by the NFL legends did not mention Kyrie Irving, giving Young the chance to put Curry on the pedestal and avoid the trouble like before. However, if you had to choose someone between Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry, who would you go for?
