Chef Curry casually dropped a devastating update to his fans! We saw Stephen Curry stun the NBA world two days ago with a season-high 56 points. It meant only one thing to fans. The Jimmy Butler trade unlocked the full potential of the superstar that the league missed over the last two seasons. It didn’t just end with that single performance. Tonight, he carried the momentum with a rare move on the court, a dunk. Right when everyone felt that the 36-year-old was unstoppable, he pulled out a dagger.
A dunk from Steph is a once-in-a-blue-moon affair. The last time he dunked in a game was six years ago. Even Steph remembered as he recalled it, at the post-game press interaction. You must be wondering if it was a good sign. Yes, it was a good sign as it reflected the superstar’s fitness, which took a dent in the last few years. However, the good sign lasted until the Baby-faced Assassin spoke about it.
During the press interaction, a reporter asked why he dunked tonight and Stephen Curry candidly said, “I’ve been feeling pretty good, I’ve been dealing with some knee stuff all year. I want to take advantage of it. I cherry-pick opportunity.” Did he just admit to the fact that he has recovered from the nagging knee injury?

Yes, the 4x champ dealt with bilateral knee tendinitis throughout this season, but then he followed it up with a concerning statement, “That would probably be my last dunk. Oh, I’m calling it right now. That was the last one you will see.”
Steph Curry said tonight was the last dunk of his career: “I’m calling it right now.” He pointed at Jerry Stackhouse after it because Stackhouse asked him to dunk at shootaround today. He said his knees have been feeling well enough to try it. pic.twitter.com/Qr1UqwKIhI

It’s utterly disappointing news, but the superstar said it out with a smile on his face like it didn’t matter. Anyway, it was a delightful sight to watch him dunk. Of course, you shouldn’t be comparing it with Ja’s and Ant-Man’s screamers. Importantly, there’s a poetic background story behind his dunk. Let’s find out.

Stephen Curry revealed the backstory of his career’s last dunk
Coming off the 56-point outing, all eyes were on Stephen Curry. The Dubs took on the struggling 76ers and little did they know they were in for a shocker. However, Curry started from where he left off, burying triple after triple, posting 29 points with 5 three-pointers. Amid this stellar shooting prowess, a particular play demanded Steph’s athleticism on point.
Around the 7th minute mark in the last quarter, the Dubs were trailing by 7 points. At that time, Buddy Hield stripped off the ball from the Sixers’ possession and threw the ball to Curry, who was ready to lay it in on the fastbreak. That’s what everyone thought. After charging on the paint, he dunked the ball, leaving the Dubs bench in disbelief. He immediately pointed the finger at someone on the bench.
Who was it? A reporter saved us some trouble and asked the superstar after the game. That’s when Curry revealed a poetic story. “Ironically, this morning at shoot around (Jerry) Stackhouse said he wanted to see you dunk… I haven’t heard that in years and it happened.” Before the tip-off, we have seen the former MVP dunk the ball for fun, but tonight, he rocked the court with it. Unfortunately, it went in vain as the Sixers walked away with a 119-126 win.
