It has been a disappointing season for the Phoenix Suns, to say the least. The Suns were embarrassed by a LeBron James-less Lakers team, losing with 107-96 on Sunday. After the blowout loss, Suns star Devin Booker expressed his frustration stating that “talent only gets you so far.” It seems Booker’s rant after a poor performance against the Lakers has worked. That’s because Phoenix has won three straight games since that defeat and the most recent one came against a formidable Cleveland side.

These wins have lifted the mood in the Suns locker room and given them some hope. Phoenix is the 10th seed in the 10th seed in a stacked Western Conference. They hold a precious final play-in position and are closely chased by the Dallas Mavericks. So, these wins are massive! Moreover, the upcoming games will also hold immense value for Phoenix. That’s something Devin Booker acknowledged after their impressive 123-112 win over the Cavaliers. “It’s important you know, every game’s going to be a battle at this point.” Stated the Suns’ shooting guard.

The 28-year-old also understood that by no means will the upcoming stretch of games be easy. On the contrary, it will be a rough patch. So, “We still going to have to stick together and you know just keep doing what we’re doing.” Said D’Book. Sure enough, they’ll have to stick together given their upcoming matchups. The Suns have to go up twice against Milwaukee and Boston. Also, they will have to battle teams such as Minnesota, Houston, New York, and Golden State. That’s not going to be a smooth ride for the Suns, that’s for sure.

However, they showed that they can play top teams with the win over Cleveland on Friday. Kevin Durant was the focus of the win dropping a spectacular 42-point performance. He topped it off with 6 rebounds and 8 assists. A performance perfectly summed up by his teammate D’Book— a “Master Class.” Meanwhile, Devin Booker assumed the facilitator role dishing out a team-high 10 assists. But, it wasn’t just a two-man effort that helped them beat the Cavs, they had a great supporting cast as well. After the game Suns veteran superstar, Kevin Durant spoke highly of two other stars.

Kevin Durant praises two stars after their win over Cleveland

The Phoenix Suns continued their great form on Friday, as they breezed past a formidable Cleveland Cavaliers side, 123-112. This win has helped Phoenix maintain their 10th seed in the Western Conference and their hopes of playing post-season basketball. While it was the Slim Reaper who shined the most scoring 42 points while going 17-of-29 from the field and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Kevin Durant being himself, credited his teammates for this massive win. Durant gave youngster Tyus Jones and forward Royce O’Neale their flowers after the game on Friday.

It’s a great great offensive game. I mean we were moving the ball, Royce got us going in the first, uh he and Tyus knocking down threes got us going, said the Suns veteran after the win. “And we making threes and we getting up 40 plus threes. We’re a dangerous team. But, the ball was flowing and popping tonight uh 32 assists like that’s the formula for us if we want to be a great offensive team.” He added. Well, they certainly were a great offensive team. Moreover, both Tyus Jones and Royce O’Neale contributed massively to the win. The 28-year-old Jones knocked down 44.4 percent of threes against the Cavs and scored 16 points in 25 minutes of action.

Meanwhile, O’Neale netted 15 points and grabbed five rebounds. So, as emphasized by Durant it was a team effort rather than a one or two-man show. What’s more, relieving for the Phoenix faithful is the fact that at last, their team seems to be getting together. That’s a great sign, especially with the tough stretch of games coming their way. Whether Kevin Durant and Devin Booker will lead their team to postseason basketball will become clear in the coming weeks.
