The 22-year-old Charlotte Hornets Center Kai Jones is making the headlines for some outrageous claims on his Twitter account. First, Jones claimed to be better than his own teammates, taking a dig at superstar LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller. After starting a civil war in Buzz City, the 7-footer took it a step further by disrespecting the 4-time NBA Champion LeBron James. When asked by a fan if he would beat King James 1V1, the young buck responded, “Yes 100%.” Unfortunately, Kai Jones did not stop there. He further disrespected his former team owner, Michael Jordan, and Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal in the same thread.

Kai Jones was the 19th pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. After his wild claims, fans might think the young Center is the “Next Shaq”. But he has only played 67 games for the Charlotte Hornets in two seasons, averaging merely 2.7 points per game. On occasion, NBA fans appreciate some confidence in young players, showing signs of hunger and competitiveness. But Kai Jones has taken his confidence to a new realm, knocking on the doors of delusion.
That might backfire soon for the 22-year-old as he does not have the stats to back his claims. Kai Jones is still on his rookie contract with the Hornets and has a lot to prove in the NBA. While his 22-year-old superstar teammate LaMelo Ball has cemented himself as the Hornets’ next franchise player, bagging $260 million, Jones is nowhere close to making that kind of money in the NBA.
