Russell Westbrook is coming off a disastrous final few seconds in the Denver Nuggets’ last game. He single-handedly blew their narrow one-point lead, which Nikola Jokic handed to them. His missed layup has been subject to clowning by fans online. But guess what? He’s done it again.
The Nuggets were down by 2 points in the dying seconds of the 4th quarter. Russ went full send on a fast break after Jalen Pickett got a steal. He did well to receive the pass from Pickett. However, he fumbled the layup badly, missing the rim entirely and practically handing the ball back to the Spurs.
The Nuggets ended up losing the game, 113-106. This is their second loss in 24 hours, and Michael Malone’s side will be extremely disappointed. They are now 4-6 in their last 10 and have now dropped to the 4th seed, with the Lakers claiming the third. But no one will be more disappointed by this than Brodie.

Russ had a good game tonight with 30 points and 11 rebounds. However, all anyone can talk about is the missed layup. After all, he had the opportunity to tie the game at a pivotal moment. While there’s no telling whether the Nuggets would have won the game had he done it, it’s still something the fans online are flaming him for.
So, we’ve compiled some of the best reactions to history repeating itself for Brodie.
Russell Westbrook gets destroyed for second missed clutch layup in less than 24 hours
Denver Nuggets fans couldn’t help but let out their frustrations at ‘The Beastbrook’ after making the same error twice in back-to-back games. “Is this AI? No way,” wrote one fan.
Another simply lamented the misery of Nuggets fans everywhere, writing, “Nuggets fans getting PTSD in less than 24 is so painful 😖.” Playing without Nikola Jokic or Jamal Murray tonight, Nuggets fans were forced to pin their hopes on Brodie. And despite him putting up 30 points tonight, he couldn’t deliver when it counted the most, once again. So, we get why Nuggets fans are blaming Russ, even if his coach isn’t.

But some fans believed Westbrook deserved more credit for his performance tonight. “Let’s be fair. He had a good game,” wrote a fan with a screenshot of his stat line from tonight’s game attached below.
Another member of the community wrote, “dropped 30-10 on a back 2 back?” questioning why he wasn’t getting more props for doing that. However, failing to come through for your team during clutch moments in back-to-back games detracts from a player’s performance.
Nevertheless, there were people who loved the fact that Russ blew two wide-open layups in two games. These were, of course, fans of the Los Angeles Lakers. “Yes all thanks 4TH QUARTER RUSS!,” wrote an X user. While another shared their sentiment, writing, “Back to back games sold out by RUSS… thanks a lot.” Why are these fans thanking Russ?

Remember how we told you that the Lakers climbed to the third seed in the West? Well, they could not have done it without Russ missing two wide-open layups in back-to-back games.
At the end of the day, though, this may just be a bad week for Brodie, all things considered. His 30-point showing tonight did show that he has a lot of ball left in him. But the Nuggets now need to know better than to pass the ball to Russell Westbrook on fast breaks in their next game. Unless they want Russ to have the worst kind of three-part!
