When the Warriors started the season with ten wins in twelve games, it took everyone by surprise. Instead of struggling in Klay Thompson’s absence, they were thriving with their new recruits. All they had to do was keep up their momentum. However, their spark did not last long, and the team took a massive hit after going 3-11 in their last fourteen games. Their latest loss was against the Lakers in heartbreaking fashion, 113-115. No wonder all the teammates gathered to talk about what was really going on.
“It is an inflection point on obviously which direction our season can go,” Curry said after the Christmas game. “Our last 14 games, it’s just been tough trying to find any type of momentum or consistency, and through that, you just can’t lose spirit and belief that we’re a good enough team to figure it out because this league is ruthless.”
Sure enough, the abysmal run has left a dent in the Warriors’ locker room as Steve Kerr revealed a major problem with the team’s morale.

Addressing the squad’s current state after the brutal Christmas Day loss, Kerr said in the post-game press conference, “Yeah, we are down. Everybody’s disappointed. We have lost some confidence. You can feel it. We had a great vibe early in the season and we’re going through it right now.”
Arguably, the greatest NBA dynasty ever is starting to lose confidence in themselves.
Obviously, tonight’s loss did not help one bit because even Stephen Curry’s 38-point scoring outburst and late-game heroics could not save the Warriors from protecting the home court. With his team trailing by four points in the final minute, Steph threw a Hail Mary corner three with LeBron James guarding him. Surprisingly, the shot went in to cut the lead to one. Then, he hit another insane long-range shot to tie the game. But just when the Warriors were starting to gain confidence, Austin Reaves shattered it by hitting a game-winning layup.
Although Kerr publicly confessed about the team’s lost confidence, he is hopeful about turning the season around, “I love our guys. High character guys. They care about the game. They care about each other. I believe in them. I believe we’re gonna get this thing turned around. So you know, this is all part of it. Part of the season. Part of life.”
“You hit these ebbs and you feel like everything is tough. Everything is difficult. And you got to feel the flow. You got to feel the confidence. So, we will keep plugging away. We will get there.”
But tonight’s loss will still leave a sour taste in their mouths.
Steve Kerr credits Reaves for final play after the Warriors disrupted the Lakers’ initial plan
With the score tied after Steph’s back-to-back threes, Dub Nation was sure that the game was going to overtime. But Austin Reaves had other plans!

He caught the inbounds pass and after realizing that LeBron was not open to make a play, he decided to attack the basket himself, resulting in the game-winning shot.
Addressing what went wrong with the Warriors’ defense on that play, Kerr had nothing but praise for AR’s quick adjustment, “He made a great play. You know, I thought we handled the initial part of the play well. They were trying to get the ball to LeBron at the top and we took away that option, and Austin made a great play.”
Well, it was just tough luck for the Warriors tonight. And they have now fallen to the eighth seed in the West. However, it’s not too late to turn things around.
