The Los Angeles Lakers is still LeBron’s team, and he is consistently putting up great numbers. But his counterpart Anthony Davis is receiving some backlash due to his inconsistency in this season. There are many questions floating on social media about his productivity. The LA Lakers are currently ranked 7th in the Western Conference and the sentiment is that Anthony’s consistency is not subpar. A 10-point score is completely unacceptable for a player like Davis. After LeBron shrugged off the online criticism of his teammate, another teammate stepped in with a bold claim.

Rising star of the Lakers Austin Reaves came in support of Davis’ influence on the game.

Reaves defended Davis after a game against the Dallas Mavericks where the 30-year-old scored only 10 points. The Lakers lost that game, and Davis was quickly criticized for his performance. Austin Reaves rightly captured the essence of the criticism, stating, “Everybody’s quick to murder AD when he has an off night.” Davis’s offense was obviously scattered, but he still managed to grab 14 rebounds.

Nights after, Anthony silenced the crowd with a stellar performance against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He managed to grab a double-double and secured a win highest 32 points and 13 rebounds. Reaves bashed the haters by praising Anthony’s impact. “… He’s affecting the game more than what the average human is picking up on,” Austin said.

Critics are doubtful, but AD is here to stay

Davis has been battling recurring injuries but despite that, he is showing remarkable resilience and commitment to the game. Many believe that the Lakers are being led by Bron. However, James himself has slammed online criticism, saying, “We don’t give a s**t about it. He definitely doesn’t.” AD is still one of the top defenders in the league. So far in the season, he is averaging 22.1 points and grabbing 12.1 rebounds.

If the Lakers are going to be anything, then AD has to play at an MVP-level elite basketball. Even on his off nights, his contribution must be immediately apparent, at least defensively, and drawing the attention of the opponents, making plays for others to contribute and score.
