At this point, it seems to be an imminent reality. Most reports suggest the same too. Kevin Durant is trying to find a new home after seeing through the ongoing campaign with the Phoenix Suns. The current build of this Mat Ishbia-led ‘financially painful team’ is far from yielding ANY results. In fact, it might require an open heart surgery… And at the age of 36, the Slim Reaper wants to stay competitive, in the hunt. In his pursuit of a championship, fans and everyone alike are wondering, where does his next chapter reside?

There are several teams who have made inquiries in trading for Durant. At the trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors stunningly, yet desperately, looked to facilitate a reunion. As per KD: “It didn’t make sense to me.” However, Ant-man’s employers weren’t the only team looking to get their hands on the two-time Finals MVP. The Minnesota Timberwolves, though, made a last-minute push, contacting multiple teams to try and materialize a trade for Kevin. That failed, but their longing for the Suns superstar hasn’t.

Brian Windhorst believes the Wolves will be among the teams to dabble in trade talks to land Durant, again. “Another small market team to watch, the Minnesota Timberwolves. Ant Edwards and KD, very tight connection also from the Olympics. The Timberwolves tried to pull off a crazy trade at the deadline for KD. Look for them to revisit those talks this summer,” Windy said on ESPN’s Get Up.

It would be crazy.

Here’s why. To Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant is the GOAT of the sport that Ant has surged to become a superstar in. During the Paris Olympics, their brotherhood cultivated a narrative of its own. Especially after Edwards contrarily screamed in the Suns veteran’s face weeks prior, during the playoffs. A pairing between the two hoopsters would be a dream for Ant-Man. On the other hand, it would also bolster the chances of Durant competing for this third title.

The Timberwolves haven’t been soaring like they were last season. However, what they lack is a consistent scorer besides KD. Their pitbullish defense still terrorizes opponents. They only allow 109 points to the opposition, the fifth least mark in the NBA this season. Pairing up Anthony Edwards, a fearless anchor with Kevin Durant, would incredibly help their offense become just as lethal.

But the Slim Reaper isn’t just a one-team target. Several teams are closely contemplating adding the aging but still emphatic scoring juggernaut. And two such teams could make a great case for him. It’s time to draw up the rumor mill.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Kevin Durant and Anthony Edwards create a Timberwolves dynasty, or is it just a pipe dream?

Have an interesting take?

The Wolves aren’t the only ones hunting for Kevin Durant… while Jimmy Butler’s trade effects are still palpable in Miami

Anthony Edwards may push the Minnesota Timberwolves to do everything in its power to get Kevin Durant. However, so would many other rivals. One resides in their own conference! The Houston Rockets were predicted to add a big star at the beginning of this season. But to Ime Udoka, his team wasn’t ready just yet. That has immensely changed since his comments early in the season. As a unit, his team has climbed the standings, now holding the fifth seed even after losing Fred VanVleet to injury.

That’s because there are several other stars who have made tremendous strides. Alperen Sengun has risen as an All-Star center who can facilitate the offense and is elite in scoring on the interior. He averages 3.7 points from pick and rolls, a mark comparable to the Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns! Additionally, the likes of Jalen Green and Amen Thompson are other players who can attract a talent such as Kevin Durant.

Reporter Sam Amick recently took the stakes a notch higher by also mentioning: “The Houstons of the world have been looking at Devin Booker and KD has certainly had a market!”

On the other hand, we have the Miami Heat lurking. After super-dramatically trading Jimmy Butler, the franchise is aiming to add a team-altering superstar during the 2026 free agency. That’s when Kevin Durant becomes available. Think about it. If he does play out his entire contract with the Suns, the Heat would have all the money to offer to the Slim Reaper with their short-term salaries.

The Heat Culture is revered around the NBA. Although the Heat lack stardom, their ideologies, and constant pursuit to be challenging for an NBA championship could definitely lure stars. That’s the current equation. It seems they are one superstar away from reaching their glory days once again. And just like ANT, Kevin Durant and Bam Adebayo have also played on multiple Olympic teams together.
