The NBA trade scene has been pure madness. One minute, Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis are swapping jerseys, and before you can even process that, the Kings flip De’Aaron Fox to the Spurs. Oh, and they’re snagging Zach LaVine from the Bulls in a three-team deal. But we might see another Fox family member going to a certain Texas team to hoop.
That’s right Recee Fox, De’Aaron Fox’s wife hinted at her comeback. Growing up in San Antonio, she played at Johnson High School before taking her talents to UCLA as a freshman. She later transferred to Texas and eventually wrapped up her college career at Cal, where she suited up for the Golden Bears. But her most notable run came at Texas Tech, where she wore No. 4 and earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention as a sophomore.
Fox was eyeing No. 2 for his Spurs jersey before switching gears and picking No. 4 instead. With San Antonio likely to retire No. 2 in honor of Kawhi Leonard, Fox found a number that hits closer to home. No. 4 isn’t just any jersey—it’s the same one his wife, Recee, wore while playing for Texas Tech.

ESPNW posted highlights of Recee on their Instagram page. Which was later shared by Recee on her story with the overlaid text “Ima have my last baby next year and make a comeback *laughing emoji*. @swipathefox yes or no?”. Recee and De’Aaron welcomed their second child on 7th August 2024. A baby girl! And their first born was born in February 2023 who goes by Reign. Looks like once the Recee completes her family with another child, she might return to NCAA.
Meanwhile her husband, De’Aaron has reached San Antonio. So when can we expect him to make his Spurs debut?
De’Aaron Fox’s status gets updated on the injury report
Now, all eyes are on Fox’s Spurs debut. Barring any last-minute changes, he’s expected to take the court Wednesday against the Hawks, giving fans their first look at him alongside Victor Wembanyama. At first, there was some uncertainty about whether he’d suit up, with the team marking him as questionable. But that didn’t last long—earlier tonight, the Spurs made it official, upgrading him to available.
Spurs acting head coach Mitch Johnson can’t wait to see how it all fits together. “It is dynamic,” he said. “We’re looking forward to adding him to the group and continuing to grow.”
San Antonio is building something special. Fox and Wemby make up a legit one-two punch, with young talent like Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, Jeremy Sochan, and Keldon Johnson filling out the roster. Add veterans Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, and the Spurs are looking like a serious threat.

Meanwhile, the Kings just got a taste of life without Fox. They edged out the Timberwolves 116-114 on Monday, proving they’re not rolling over anytime soon. Once LaVine joins the lineup, they’ll push to stay competitive in the West.
Fox wanted San Antonio, and he got his wish. Now, it’s up to him to make it work alongside Wemby and help turn the Spurs into a playoff contender.
