2x MVP Kevin Durant and Co. have been struggling against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA playoffs. The fanbase of the Phoenix Suns got so offended by their poor performance in their last game that they booed their team in the fourth quarter. The reaction from the stands was also justified from the series’ point of view, as the Timberwolves are leading the playoffs by 3-0. Considering the Suns’ current circumstances, ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe revealed that KD might be planning his homecoming to the Oklahoma City Thunder, his debut team.
Shannon, who appeared on Chad Johnson’s show, NightCap, revealed that the Oklahoma City Thunder has got all the requisites to get Kevin Durant. The former shared, “They[OKC] got 8-9 first draft picks, they got like 13 second draft picks, …they got the artillery to get a Kevin Durant.” However, Shannon doubts if Kevin Durant would be willing to join the Thunder. The ESPN analyst’s doubt might become a reality as the Suns’ dynasty is crumbling in the Western Conference. On top of that, Oklahoma is seeded at #1 in the Western Conference right now.

On the contrary, ex-NBA Champion Durant is getting criticism for “not getting his job done” at the Suns. He is called unworthy on the court after leaving the Golden State Warriors, as KD played well under Curry and Thompson. After that, he couldn’t make it to the NBA Finals after his Achilles tendon injury in the 2019 Championship series. Nevertheless, he brought the NBA title two times in the Bay Area with the Warriors.
Since Oklahoma is performing well now, it has got the potential and an opportunity for KD to seize the NBA title with his home team.

The Thunder Center Chet Holmgren recently appeared in a Nike advertisement for his “KD 17” shoe line. However, the highlight of the ad was the narration that took fans by surprise. Ex-Thunder player KD himself gave his narration for Holmgren. The latter explained about the commercial to the press after Thunder’s Game 2. It was a “cool collab” for Chet and suited both players well.
Holmgren is a young gun in Oklahoma who adores KD as a motivating figure. Chet even hinted at KD’s probable reunion with Thunder as he further shared, “I don’t see it being the last thing we work on together down the road.” Well, the statement from Holmgren is not a surprise. The former NBA Champion has recently been spotted frequently praising Thunder and his history with the team as a rookie.
Though the return of the NBA star KD will be a result that everyone expects, it is not possible right now. The 35-year-old Suns player will become a free agent in 2026. However, the Thunder can get him from the draft pick if they want, as Sharpe explained earlier. KD and Thunder’s consent might lead to the dream reunion.
