The world witnessed in awe as the USA assembled a star-studded squad for last summer’s Paris Olympics. Many even deemed them ‘The Avengers.’ At the forefront of it all? LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant. The three greatest players of this era. Sure enough, the campaign was etched in history as Team USA conquered the world to win gold and bring glory back to America. But while fans will remember this moment forever, what about the players who got the job done? Well, KD spilled the beans in Netflix’s Court of Gold documentary and got emotional talking about his Olympics participation.

Revealing what the Olympics stage means to him, Durant said, “Nah, for sure. For sure. Cause it’s like I come from neighborhood where people don’t even talk to each other. So much hate in the world too like when people get to start laughing and joking for a game of ball, it’s cool to me. So, like it gets me emotional dawg.” As the Suns superstar got teary eyed, he gave a small chuckle saying, “My bad.”

Although Durant is a world-renowned superstar and a multi-millionaire today, life was not always sunshine and rainbows for him. Growing up in a tough DC neighborhood, his father left his family when KD was a kid, and he was raised by his mother, Wanda. And Wanda worked multiple jobs as she struggled to make ends meet. KD even talked about his hardships in an interview years ago, “It was so clear to me at a young age that if you didn’t get up every day and work till it was dark, you weren’t eating. So, working hard and never cutting corners wasn’t even a question for me because we were starving.”

So, to go from that situation to now representing his nation in the Olympics, Durant realizes its importance, “it’s crazy to see people travel so long to come see their favorite player play in the Olympics. They spend their money. They bring their whole family. It’s just dope to me. The game has saved my life so. It brought me and my family out of a lot of bullsh*t so I’m just like grateful for it. For real.”

With four gold medals, Durant is the most decorated USA Basketball player in Olympics history. And its clear that hooping on foreign soil suits him well. Maybe, that’s why he shocked everyone by hinting at a future overseas!

Could Kevin Durant's EuroLeague move redefine his legacy, or should he stick with the NBA?

Is Kevin Durant leaving the NBA to join EuroLeague?

After spending eighteen years in the NBA, KD does not have much left to accomplish in this league. Well, he is already an MVP and a two-time Champion. So, there is a chance he might spend the final stage of his career hooping in the EuroLeague. Yes, when asked during the All-Star Weekend if he would ever play overseas, Durant replied, “I doubt it right now. I play in the NBA, but I love watching EuroLeague too.” Moreover, he even revealed two preferred destinations if he ever makes the move, “Barcelona would be a nice place. Monaco would be nice too.” And the teams might be gearing up to sign the two-time champ in the offseason.

Of course, this is not something the Suns fans want to hear. Especially after Mat Ishbia and Co. attempted to trade KD to the Warriors at the deadline. But don’t worry Suns fans! Durant isn’t going anywhere, at least for now. “For now, I love Phoenix. I’m staying here.” He added, assuring that he is committed to the Phoenix franchise and remains under contract with them for another year.

But even though it’s a far-fetched idea, it would be incredible to see KD going up against the best talent in Europe and building his legacy overseas just like he has done in the NBA and Olympics. Do you want to see him play in the EuroLeague?
